Let's Make The Marijuana Thread Again!

The other day my roommate made a comment that he doesn't know how he's going to raise his kid in a country where weed is legal, and I tried explaining that pot is way less extreme than alcohol, but it fell upon deaf ears.
Idk the social stigma it carries is still somewhat baffling.

If his kid had Dravet Syndrome he'd be damn glad to have legal weed. Show him the Sanjay Gupta Weed documentary:

South Florida is pro legalization but were stuck in a very anti marijuana state. We just voted on medical but only got 58% needing 60 to get it through. Frustrating.

It's complete crap is what it is!!!:argh:

****ing Florida :doh::argh::csad::waa:

58% is really close though, I bet it'll go through the next time it comes up. Or the one after that.

Much of the social stigma surrounding weed comes from those who have never tried it, sadly.

the way I see it, marijuana is not at all as dangerous as the media, government, public education, and propaganda makes it out to be, but at the same time, it is not as innocent as marijuana pro legalization activists make it out to be.

Everyone should do a cost-benefit analysis.

One one side look at all the benefits of legalization and on the other the drawbacks of ending prohibition.

I'm confident than any honest and scientific analysis will show the pros outweigh the cons.

Especially when you throw in medical marijuana and hemp.

But no prohibitionist will ever do such a thing.

oh for sure, either way you look at it it is complete utter garbage as to why it is illegal. it is the dumbest thing ever.

damn, tonight was my first time blazing after like 3 weeks, and it was blue dream too... don't think I'll be doing it for a while.

Rider in Federal Omnibus Intends to Block DC Legalization Vote

"A rider was included in the final version of the House omnibus appropriations bill with the intent blocking the implementation of Washington, DC’s 2014 marijuana legalization initiative.

As written, the rider seeks to restrict the District from utilizing federal or local funds to “to enact or carry out any law, rule, or regulation to legalize or otherwise reduce penalties associated with the possession, use, or distribution of any schedule I substance under the Controlled Substances Act (21 U.S.C. 801 et seq.) or any tetrahydrocannabinols derivative.” A summary of the provision posted on the House Appropriations Committee website acknowledges that the language is intended to prevent any funds from being used to “implement a referendum legalizing recreational marijuana use in the District.”

Washington DC’s Initiative 71 was approved by over 70 percent of District voters in November. The initiative seeks to legalize the adult possession of up to two ounces of marijuana and cultivation of three mature and three immature plants.

“This rider is an affront to the concept of democracy,” commented NORML Communications Director Erik Altieri, “Seven out of ten voters in Washington, DC cast their ballot in favor of ending prohibition and legalizing the adult possession and limited cultivation of marijuana, this attempt by members of Congress to flout the will of the people is a gross injustice to these voters and to the democratic system.”

The House will vote on the final version of the omnibus bill in the next couple days and then it must be approved by the Senate. This rider has no impact on the District’s current decriminalization or medicinal marijuana policies. NORML will keep you updated as the situation develops and what precisely this means for legalization in the nation’s capitol.

Teen Who Dosed Teacher With Pot Brownie Was Not Funny at All, No Siree

Yesterday, a no-good student of Broadneck High School in Arnold, Maryland, pulled an absolutely-not-funny-under-any-circumstances prank on one of his teachers.

The teen, who goes unnamed in the Capital Gazette's report of the incident, allegedly brought a pot-laced brownie to school, and after sharing a piece with his girlfriend, offered a bite to a teacher. A terrible, malicious idea that would almost certainly not lead to zany hijinks of any sort. The Capital reports:

The police's school resource officer at the school, at 1265 Green Holly Drive, was alerted to the incident at 1 p.m. after the 45-year-old teacher started to feel ill and became lethargic.

Another staff member noticed that the teacher was acting differently and accompanied her to the school nurse, said Lt. T.J. Smith, a county police spokesman.

...

The teacher was taken to a local hospital. The student and the girlfriend were checked out by a school nurse and were determined to be safe.

The teen was charged with distribution of marijuana, second-degree assault, and reckless endangerment. Shame, shame, shame.

I brought in a whole tray of pot brownies when I was a freshman in high school and we gave our teacher one too haha. Although it sucks these kids got wrapped up in a ton of charges

I friend of mine took some brownies to work one day, mind you this is an exposition and convention event set up union job where everyone and their mother smoke pot amongst other things, and handed a couple out to his friends. He gave some to a supervisor that wanted some. The supervisor then began to freak as he had never eaten brownies before and caused a ****show at the work place. My friend ended up getting suspended for a month because the wuss couldn't handle it.

My girl is coming over this afternoon and she's bringing me "the goofy" which is what she calls it, and believe me when a Brazilian/Dominican says the words "goofy" it's very, very hot.

I care.

"Small government" republican and "socially liberal" democrats joined forces to block the will of people.

I can't decide what's worse, the hypocrisy or the blatant lack of democracy.

The Congressman trying to obstruct DC's legal cannabis is backed by Big Pharma company "Emergent BioSolutions".

Feds to Allow Marijuana Sales on Native American Lands:
http://marijuana.com/news/2014/12/feds-to-allow-marijuana-sales-on-native-american-lands/

"The Department of Justice released a memo Thursday directing U.S. attorneys not to prosecute Native American tribes for growing and selling marijuana on their sovereign lands.

The guidance, authored by Monty Wilkinson, the executive director of the Executive Office for United States Attorneys, extends even to reservations in states where marijuana has not yet been legalized.
