It is and isn't acceptable to like Transformers movies. But I tend to think the people who bash Twilight the most haven't actually seen it. I've seen the first two, and I neither love nor hate them. I sometimes joke about Blade showing up in the next one and killing everybody because that's funny to me. But I don't treat it like it's just the most horrible thing to ever happen to cinema.

Yup. Unfortunately Hollywood's new logic is why work things out to proceed forward, when you can reboot!

I too am glad people are reading, but it's quite sad when I see people..even some I know...that herald Twilight as their favorite or the best book of ALL freaking time. I wonder if they've even read anything else in their lives.

I would agree. I won't knock ANYTHING that gets young people reading-be it Twilight or HP. But it does seem like the people that these books appeal to the most aren't prone to reading much of anything else.

So far everyone has some good reasons in here but I wanted to point out something that I hate that actually helps bandwagoners, Wikipedia.

I quoted you katie because before TDK came out, it was mainly hardcore Batman fans and some casual fans in the time of BB. During the filming as well as after TDK was released everyone and their mother came out of the woodwork and due to Wiki, were acting like long time experts.

I'm all for some of these comic films making new fans out of people who never were interested but there's a difference between that and the fakes who need to think for themselves.

Holy crap I could not agree more! In fact I put my own rant about the exact same thing in the "I Hate This" thread because I couldn't tell where this thread was going just on its title.

I remember one instance that really pissed me off...

There's this guy who's going to school at the Art Institute with me, decent guy who's in the film program just like I am. When I first met him in early 2008 he said his passion was in comedy and musicals...that those were his genres of choice and I thought that was fine, those are pretty decent genres. What intrigued me was that he went out of his way to bash blockbusters, trying to argue that for the most part the "Star Wars" and "Jaws" size releases are bloated and overrated. Obviously he's entitled to that opinion, though I didn't agree with him.

Anyway fast forward to late April/early May 2008 and suddenly this cat's bringing in a DVD player...hooking it up to the 40" in the student lounge...where he proceeds for two to three weeks to play 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' and 'The Temple of Doom' for himself, his friends and anyone in the lounge at the time. He continued to do so until the Security got on his case saying he couldn't hook his own equipment into the TV.

Bottom line you can see where this is going. A guy who went to great lengths to tell me he's not into blockbusters and yet here he is trying to conventiently set himself up as an Indiana Jones fan in time for the release of "Kingdom of the Crystal Skull."

"Oh look at me...I'm totally into Indiana Jones. That means I'm more excited for the new film than you are since I'm so into Indiana Jones. I'm so into Indiana Jones I have to bring him to school with me that's how into Indiana Jones I am...'No time for love, Dr. Jones' hyuk hyuk yak yak."

ugh...

Now I'm not degrading people who get excited for the release of films tied to successful properties. If 'Kingdom of the Crystal Skull' or 'Tron: Legacy' or 'Green Lantern' can bring attention to these characters for a new generation and create new fans, more power...but I absolutely LOATHE people who go out of there way to set themselves up as fans of Indiana Jones or "Star Trek" or "A Nightmare on Elm Street" or 'Good' James Cameron just for the sake of being relevant.

Can't stand crap like that.

I actually liked Revenge of the Sith and Wolverine. I ended up watching Transformers : Revenge of the Fallen and thought it was f****** awesome. The plot made no sense , but it the action scenes and the jokes were cool. I have no idea why people talked s*** about the Autobot twins , but I thought they were decent. I've seen worse characters than those before.

I love the prequel trilogy as much as I love the original trilogy. I don't get why people hated the way the adult Anakin acted. Of course someone would act like how he acted . He was born into slavery and then this badass order of warrior monks with mystical powers says he's their chosen one. He also had all these rules and restrictions to follow.

How in the world are we supposed to individually discern who's bandwagoning or not? It's nearly impossible. Any positive/negative influx of any given product is due to the fluctuating users that are on. There are never the same group of people for any given time, especially in such a big place as the net.

This whole Spidey reboot thing is a perfect example. If you see a rise in Raimi bashers, why would you assume these are composed of the same people that praised the man years ago? Unless you were some sort of stalker that had remarkable memory, it's highly doubtful you're even talking about the same people. It's not unfounded that new users come on here with certain preferences that might favor the current trend. It may not even be a case of them necessarily following a trend, it just coincides with it.

Case in point, I truly believe Wolverine Origins and SM3 sucked tremendous amounts of balls. It has nothing to do with them being fanboy piñatas. Imo, they are one of the lowest forms of comic book cinema. Honestly. I laugh at anyone that actually tries and explain away my perception of that. It's adorable how ******** people get.

Bandwagoning exsts. It can't be stopped, it can't be tracked, it's rarely proven. Deal with it. Worry about your own opinions.

Spiderman 3 and Wolverine were pretty good actually. If you watch it from a comic book fan's perspective , of course they suck. If you turn your brain off and watch it then they're pretty good movies.

No, I have no problem doing that for certain movies (even though you shouldn't HAVE to exert effort to enjoy a product). I'm one of the "few" that truly loves Transformers 1. Lord knows that's one of the most braindead blockbusters that have come out. Point is I enjoyed it immensely. Not so with Wolverine or SM3.
