BvS Likely Deductions About Who'll Be Cast as the Next Batman

I think Jett can care less about his perceived credibility to be honest. He prides himself more on being a "conduit" between the fans and the studio that the studio respects (hence his strict no spoiler policy) than being the guy who reports everything first and accurately now. A long time ago he was a scoop guy, but not really anymore.

And honestly "rumblings" ought to be labeled as "rumblings". As in, "this is something being discussed and rumored in LA now". I mean, we live in an era where studios leak things intentionally so they can see how the internet will react and then they adjust accordingly. Just because Ashton Kutcher wasn't cast as Batman in 2003 doesn't mean it wasn't something WB was really keen on at the time it was reported. So who knows at this point? It's early days. I say bring on the rumors, at least it gives us something to discuss.
The problem with "rumblings" is that they are reappraised as scoops when they are proven correct, or quietly forgotten when they are proven wrong. It's a masterstroke of BS.

Jett clearly attempts to cultivate some kind of "credibility", because his site makes the keyboard-spraying comment that it is the most respected of its type on the web.

Wes Bentley.

Comparable height, the right age, the right look.
Some protein shakes and decent time in the weight room to get the right size.

But more than anything else that Wes Bentley has going for him...

He is under the (bat)wing of Christopher Nolan now by being cast in Nolan's next film, 'Interstellar'.

Definitely should at least get a look...

I see some serious potential here, plus he has ties with Nolan with his upcoming film so there's a possibility.

I never thought of Cooper for this role. I always thought of him for Flash or Green Lantern. But now that he's close to Bale's age, is digging deeper into serious roles by doing movies with Derek Cianfrance and David O Russell, I can see him in the running at least.

He's a good actor. The billionaire playboy will be no problem for him. And then private Bruce would be cool to see. My problem is him as Batman. He's literally going to try to impersonate Bale. That's what lost him the job for Green Lantern.

The more I think about it, the more I feel Bale is the way to go if theyre going with a 40 year old. Otherwise reboot and stay far away from the Nolanverse. By getting somebody younger but who is in year 2.

It's the two B's for me: Bale or Bentley.

Cooper could pull off a great playboy Bruce and he is in great shape. Real question is, how would he portray Batman?

You're right about that part. No argument here.

TBH, that's clearly just a jab at Chris' site. But if anything, he tends to claim his site is more respected because of his strict non-spoiler policy, not because of his scoops.

He's just playing the game, like everyone else. If he didn't have such an abrasive e-personality people wouldn't be on his case so much. He's far from the only web personality out there to post rumors and then say "told ya!" if it happens.

I have no idea who the next Batman will be,
But ,I am down with this idea of Leo retiring.

I don't trust most of these sites with their supposed sources. Did any of them tell us we were getting a Superman/Batman movie? No. It wasn't till a couple of hours before comic con that news broke.

There will be no new Batman. Bale is coming back

i know people like to blast him but hedlund is very good go watch on the road but i think he is too soft looking for batman

That's part of the reason why I'm very curious about how well he'd play the part: a soft, youthful Bruce Wayne seems right up his alley, especially considering he played a pitch perfect "son" of Jeff Bridges. A the same time, his part in Death Sentence is practically unrecognizable and scary, and he has a bass voice. I think someone like him could have a Bruce Wayne who seems younger than Clark while his Batman can seem older.

Hedlund is just not Batman. He's Flash maybe, but no Bruce Wayne.

I think they'll want an actor who is close in size terms to Cavill, they wont want someone who looks visually small next to him.

So, which of the possible candidates are close or equal in size to Cavill?

Leo is amazing, but he is overexposed.
Your right, the break will be good for him.
Looking forward to The Wolf of Wall Street.

Alright, I'm gonna post this. Please do not shoot the messenger. It's along the lines of what we've been discussing, but now he's running with it on his site.

I'm not trying to start another debate about Jett's credibility here. Whether this is solid information or nothing more than a rumor, the idea of an older Batman is very intriguing to me and I'm happy to continue discussing it.

Hedlund is 6'2" according to IMDb.

Anyone can bulk up with the right training and enough time. Size should be the least of concerns.

You cant really think like that, because actors will train and BECOME big in size. You cant cast on that.

I hate you, you son of a.... :woot: I kid!

Really hope WBs don't go with an older Batman

Im starting to like this older Batman thing. Thanks for the link BatLobster.

Out of that list from Jett, id say Brolin and Hamm intrigue me the most. Of course it can be someone else. This is probably why WB are contacting Bale.

An older Batman would be great, Anson Mount time!

I thinking more about height and frame, because obviously an actor can train but he has to have the starting point to build up.

But if they cast someone older they're gonna have to recast sooner rather than later. I just can't see this been true.

Out of that list, I like Caviezel and Hamm for it the most. But their TV schedules could potentially be an issue.

I'm starting to like the older Batman thing too. I mean, people want a seasoned BatGod right? What better way to portray that credibly than by going with an older actor who can portray a Batman who's been at this for a few years? It makes some sense guys. A rookie Batman shouldn't be going up against Superman.

ALSO, this is me taking a shot in the dark but I'd LOVE to start with an older Bruce in this reboot and only have his Batman appear in this and the JL and/or Trinity film. Then going forward we can do a Batman Beyond film with the same actor as an even older Bruce. It's a pretty cool possibility when you think about it.

I read that Batman to be older than Superman so Jim Caviezel should play The Dark Knight!
