The Dark Knight Likes And Dislikes

What about the batarangs, the grapple gun, the little explosives that he has? All potentially lethal. Even the tumbler had missiles. Doesnt mean he ll fire at people.

I have to disagree. I knew I would have to explain what I wrote but here it goes : Batarangs, grapple guns, explosives are indeed potentially lethal but he uses them to disarm (mainly), move around the city, blow up locks. He's not going to make one of his enemies swallow a bomb.

On the other hand, those gigantic guns on the BatPod have a greater power. He probably has them for use against vehicles, or maybe to destroy bridges or the likes. When you blow up a lock you know you're not gonna kill whoever's standing behind the door because the damage is minimal and precise : you just destroy the lock. But if you destroy a car or fire bullets at it, you can't tell whether someone's gonna die from it or not. The bullets could go through the doors/windshields, blow up the gas tank... It could also force the driver into a series of dangerous reckless moves that might kill him/a pedestrian...

In the end, Batman uses a lot of potentially lethal equipment but none with as much destructive power as those BatPod guns. Those are really dangerous because no matter how you use them, you COULD kill someone, whether you want it or not. While the little items he has in his belt are used for small, precise actions that are really unlikely to kill anyone, considering the mastery with which he uses them.

Nolan like every other director before him tries to show the amazement of the common person when he first sets eyes on the superhero.

Just because they have done it, doesn't mean they have to.
There are more tactful and interesting ways to realsitically deal with public reaction to seeing a superhero. Ever read MARVELS?

I just get sick of the SAME reaction from every person who represents the public in these movies. Because, you know, the public is a pretty ****ing diverse group of folks with different reactions to things.

dislikes: How Batman blows up everything and anything in sight. Not to mention how it seems that the majority of the time we see Batman, he'll be on his batpod. I thought Batman had legs...

Likes: Just about everything else.

That's just a trailer thing. They're purposefully limiting what we see.

Dont be...naive. Remember how the BB trailers had lots of Tumbler action so that we would stop whining and embrace it for its awesomeness? Its the same thing. Nolan keeps his moneyshots for the actual screening. He barely showed us Batman fight. And you know, we should be grateful, cause for example all of 300's moneyshots were around the net a week before its release! LAME!

Also, that blowing up you re talking about, well its probably batman making a new way through the parked cars. Maybe he is ambushed or chased or something.

Dont judge the movie just yet.

Just because they have done it, doesn't mean they have to.

Well, a movie needs its comic relief you know. A 2.30 hour movie so dark and serious as TDK would be very tiring for the audience if there isnt any comic relief.

Frankly, the only comic reliefs i found bad in BB were the "nice coat" (bad timing, or else it would be nice) and "nice ride".
I didnt find the reaction of the cops to the batmobile ridiculous or cheesy. They were dealing with some crazy **** right there. That tank was "flying on ****ing rooftops" man!

So...you've seen the movie...you sound so sure about yourself....or maybe you haven't seen the IMAX Opener. gtfo.

Watch the language, I saw the IMAX opener, and the only impressive thing about it was the joker, that's it.

I dont get the hate for the kids in the new TV spot.

I mean, it's 5 seconds long with two children 'playing guns' when there is an explosion and Batman drives by.

No 'WOW!" OR 'WICKED COOL'! or anything so...what exactly is wrong with it?

It's not like Bats stopped and told them to eat their veggies or anything.

Amen to that.

I think it just reminds people of stupid comedic scenes that really have no place in this type of film. I'm reminded of that horrendous shot of a dog covering his eyes in fear, during an F4 action scene. I mean, yes, it was literally one second of footage, but why was it needed?

New likes.

1. Batman having guns.
2. Batman blowing **** up.
3. Batman locking the door on the law to implement his own version of "justice" on a prisoner.

4. Batman not giving a flyin 747 ****!!

Hell, **** a monastery, I hope he blows up a building filled with Joker goons. I'm tired of this absolutely no killing crap. This from alot of the same people who obsess over the "realism" of the movies. Lets make it really real and have him slip up and blow a few ****ers up here and there.

So what's the difference between having those cannons on the Batpod but having them on the Tumbler? Does he get a pass because the Tumbler came stock with weaponary but the Batpod he decided to go ahead and accessorize the thing with the same things aftermarket?

You guys aren't seeing the kids with the shooting clip in its full context you don't see the deeper message ...I'm f'ing kidding. I think that Nolan put that scene in their so Goyer could feel like he made some contribution the movie.

Morality has absolutely nothing to do with realism.

The kids in the car scene didn't really bother me honestly. More or less you could see something like that happening in real life actually.

And I wouldn't be surprised if it gets cut from the final film. We've all seen how certain scenes are in a trailer but are never in the final cut, so what makes everyone believe it'll still be there by the time July 18th comes around?

I sorta like the **** with the kids. Whats wrong with having them there (other than it encourages bringing kids to see the movie)?

Seriously?
Yes, seriously. What makes you think reality has anything to do with an individual's personal values and moral code? No matter what it is, you can't deem it as unrealistic. It is just a viewpoint, after all.

You don't see the convenience of the kids pretending to shoot up cars, only for the cars to actually a blow up a moment later? Then the obligatory shot of the kids' faces going "whoooaaa"... :funny:

Are we seriously *****ing about the kid thing? Really?

...

This movie just needs to come out now. You all must be REALLY bored.

You're comparing two children interacting with one another only to have Batman drive by to...

The utter absurdity of the dog covering it's eyes in a scene from Fantastic 4?!

Honestly...people. It's Gotham CITY. Ya know, filled with PEOPLE - that being men, women AND CHILDREN.

I think some of you Batfans believe that Gotham City is populated only by middle aged white guys who commit crime 24/7.

Somewhere, out there in ye old Gotham...kids are playing in the streets. Batman drives by. Nuff said.
