Musical Little Shop of Horrors (2nd Remake)

After Knives Out, I could see Evans being hilarious as the dentist.

Has he ever sang though?

Having thought it through a little more, I really want Chris Evans to play the dentist. I need the image of freaking Captain America, who is exactly the kind of person you'd expect to see rescuing a kitten from a tree, introduced on his motorcycle singing about bashing kittens' heads and shooting puppies with BB guns. The mental image alone is hilarious.

Funny thing is his dad is actually a dentist. As for singing, I don't believe he's ever really sung on-camera like he would in a musical but I believe he said he did some as a kid and ScarJo and his other MCU co-stars said he was always singing and dancing between takes. I found a clip of him singing/listening to Journey in The Losers but it's tough to gauge how well he sings from that. There's a short clip of him and his brother singing but they're sort of goofing off so it's not all indicative of his vocal abilities.

This is pretty much what I expect from Evans as the Dentist

I'm loving Evans continuing the streak of playing d-bags since his last turn as Cap that started with Knives Out.

That being said though...apart from being more faithful to the ending of the original show (which was shot for the last movie anyway), is there anything that this adaptation needs to say that the 1986 movie didn't already? They didn't change it up by race swapping any of the characters. They might as well have just turned this into a limited Broadway run.

Egerton will be terrific.
Porter will be a delight.
Evans will be hilarious.

Scarlett cannot sing the role and will ruin this. Jesus Christ.

EDIT: Just want to say that Little Shop is my favorite stage show and my ALL TIME favorite film. It's one of the best musical adaptations ever made. Frank Oz crafted a brilliant film. I'll always be excited about new versions of Little Shop, but I'm nervous about Berlanti. I loved Love, Simon, but does he have the vision to create something so perfectly campy and horrific? Wanting to cast ScarJo shows me he doesn't get it.

Evans as the Dentist is the best piece of casting I've heard for any movie in like forever. After this film, I want them to make a prequel spinoff about his character. I know I'm jumping the gun here but I know he'll be amazing haha.

Yep, Scarlet is the only part of this that gives me pause. Still holding out hope they could get Janelle Monae for Audrey instead.

It's even better anti-typecasting than Knives Out. Captain America, who I'm sure rescued a kitten from a tree at some point, introduced telling us all about how he grew up bashing in kittens' heads and shooting puppies with BB guns.

They should get RDJ to play the guy who really wants to be at the dentist’s office.
That scene/gag was written specifically for Bill Murray for the 1986 film. No reason why they would copy and paste the same thing for this film.

It was? Well then in that case maybe they could do a different type of cameo somewhere else in the movie.

Isn't there a similar scene in the original, with Jack Nicholson as the patient? Not nearly as funny, of course, but...

ScarJo is underrated. She'll deliver.

He's actually in the 1960 film (played by Jack Nicholson).

I mean she could be an Idina Menzel under all that.

Actors prepare and train for roles.

You can’t learn how to belt. Audrey is a belter. Scarlett is not. Can she carry a tune? Sure. Not all that well.
This isn't a role where you can just fake it. It’s a demanding powerhouse vocal.

Maybe she’ll pull a Rebecca Ferguson and get dubbed by a superior singer.

She was in the animated movie Sing and did a song. She has a husky tone and isn’t a bad singer but definitely won’t be singing high notes.

But they always fix that stuff in editing anyway.
