Fantasy Live Action ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ (Universal)

Reading reviews. This movie being totally bankrupt in terms of a creativity in the same summer as a Disney remake, that actually showed some, in kind of insane.
I know it's only at 80 reviews on RT right now but I'm surprised they aren't more overwhelmingly negative. Critics usually dismiss straight up carbon copy remakes right off the bat. *Gestures wildly at The Lion King*

Yeah, they read worse then the score. Maybe it's because Disney has a well deserved rep in this regard, so they go harder. Also as much as the original is beloved (one of my favorites), Dreamworks flicks aren't held in the same esteem.

I find it funny that a lot of issues people had with Lilo and Stitch were changes I appreciated making it feel like a different film with the same soul.

At least this film embraced the cartoony design of Toothless. **** Favreau and his hyper realistic animals.

On March 2010, both the original How to Train Your Dragon and the Tim Burton Alice in Wonderland came out, the latter of which kickstarted Disney's live action remake craze.

15 years later, How to Train Your Dragon would get a live action remake.

Deservedly So.

ummm well…

Nice visuals, same story not much new added. Mason tried but just couldn’t give that dorky energy, and Nico gave me nothing until the last act. Letting Gerard come back was smart. Toothless is cute they did right leaving the design the same. Overall it made me want to rewatch the animated movie.

I do think it kept the heart and soul intact. But yeah, Mason Thames doesn't have quite the same energy as Jay Baruchel brought to the character, but you see a bit more of the man Hiccup will grow into later with Thames.

If Cate Blanchett doesn't return as Valka,

Really looking forward to seeing,Butler reprise his role.
