With the heavy fantasy, chinese folklore involved and totally over the top and exaggerated characters, a unique visual style is the only way to go.

I guess you're right. I really hope this Movie will get a Casshern treatment though. Any attempt at trying to make it look too realistic will utterly fail. Sin City and 300 also required no superhuman feats. Dragonball does.
if they have Nappa, you know they gotta get Goldberg...
I still think this is a huge mistake. Will there be American or Japanese actors? What will the story be like?
The Marv thing is easily simulated. Superspeed, consistant flight and laser beams are a little harder to do. Notice how Cyclops' beam is used only sparingly? Also, if one shoots on a big field or something like that, that requires for the place to be closed off, and you need to build paths for the camera crew. Especially if you want them flying, you need to have whole things set up. I doubt a DBZ film is able to invest that much into CGI. Which is exactly why they should start with Dragonball.Marv jumping through a police car and tossing people 30ft seemed pretty superhuman to me. The main thing in DBZ is martial arts battles (Kung Fu Hustle) with the occasional laser beam (Cyclops from X-men), throw in some flying (The Matrix) and you have Dragonball Z.

Except the Matrix Revolution was backed by a huge budget based on the success of the two prior movies. DBZ doesn't have that. As for super speed. Neither Neo or Supes use super speed in combat. The Z-Warriors do. This has often been shown.
Yeah he's perfect for Nappa. Lately, my pick for Raditz has been Christian Bale. I seriously doubt they'd get him though.![]()
He was talking about Goldberg, not Nappa.Nappa, serious and silent? Are we talking about the same Nappa? Sure, he was never overconfident or mocked his enemies ever.
I can't really see Goldberg as Nappa, Nappa is the type of character that's completely arrogant & ignorant, Goldberg is more of a serious, silent type. And Christian Bale is a horrible choice for Raditz.
God, no. Cillian Murphy is a great actor, one of my favorites, but he should NOT portray Freeza. Freeza should be CGI.
