Fantasy Live action Hercules in the works at Disney

The good news is that I didn't think much of the original animated Hercules, so it is a low bar to clear to be an improvement. I'm still not expecting much though.
There does seem to be a lot of room for improvement with some of these live action Disney remakes, as with The Jungle Book.

As a start, they can improve Hercules by making the main character actually interesting to the point where every other character doesn’t steal the show from him like in the animated film.

Really like the Disney animated version. Curious how this live action will be.

The film had so many great action scenes, how this will look in live action is something i really want to see.

Didn’t like Ritchie’s Aladdin and the screenwriter doesn’t have the best resume, so we’ll see how this goes.

Ritchie's Aladdin felt too much like the animated film to where the few differences were really offputting, all the character depictions were lesser except that Jafar pretty good but still too much younger.

I didn't like Hercules I think mostly because I found Hercules a little too annoying at both ages, didn't really get why he liked Megara and most of the comic relief was also excessive and annoying.

The original isn’t the best movie but compared to other Hercules adaptations over the past several decades, it’s a masterpiece. I’ll take a live action version of this over that Dwayne Johnson or Kellen Lutz crap any day. Although Guy Ritchie taking the helm doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence.

The problem is when they try and take the fantasy out of the myth. Like, why did they keep doing that in the 2000s? Those Hercules movies, Immortals… why!?

I’d rather Disney just make a sequel to the animated movie.
I'm actually surprised that Hercules never got a DTV sequel back in the day since it's one of the few animated features they have with plenty of material to mine from. I know they had the series which was a prequel, or mid-quel I guess since it took place during his teen years. It's just funny that they made a Hunchback 2, Bambi 2 and two Cinderella sequels without there ever being a Hercules 2.

Yeah, Immortals was especially disappointing just for how cheap it looked at times and how they minimized the mythology. Like, you’re telling the story of Theseus. So have him fight a ****ing minotaur! Don’t just put him against a guy in a bull helmet. The movie had gods and magic arrows, but a minotaur was a bridge too far?

I could see Guy Ritchie going for it, but I can’t see Disney backing him on it lol

I was thinking Willem Dafoe, but he might really creep out the kids!!!

Just give us the damn cast, Russos! :cmad:

Actually now that I think about it we'll probably get some kind of casting news for this at D23.

I’m worried the Russo’s will just suck the fantasy out of it.
