Fantasy Live action Hercules in the works at Disney

Don't be silly... it's gonna be James Corden. :o

What would be even worse is if they cast Kevin Hart to be Phil.

But for real, in this age of CGI and other assorted VFX, there's no reason for DeVito not to reprise the role.

There's no real reason to make this movie period. Hercules the original wasn't even a big hit for Disney. It didn't even make over $100 million domestic.

I've always said it makes more sense for Disney to remake their animated movies that weren't hits or universally loved since there's more room for improvement compared to something like The Lion King or Beauty and the Beast, but since those two remakes made over $1B it's a moot point. I think this has potential to do well depending on the cast.

Oh Vile, it's a classic to a subset of us 90s kids. The soundtrack of the movie alone is iconic.

It just sucks that these are the plans for this live action remake.

Sure but then Dumbo bombed. Mulan bombed. Through the Looking Glass 2 under-performed. They didn't even release Pinocchio in theaters, and good thing too because it was horrendous.

As a movie, I like Hercules a lot, but I see no point in remaking it for live-action. Like what's the point? What does it do? Would it really be an improvement? A big part of my appeal for the Disney Hercules is the artwork and the character designs. The animation itself, which can't be replicated in live-action.

The originals are classics. The remakes are lifeless, pale imitations.

....I actually liked that one. It had heart.

But I do agree with you about the majority of these remakes being lifeless. I'm still in my feelings about Beauty & The Beast, Aladdin and The Lion King specifically.

I think the only part I enjoyed in Dumbo was the homage to Pink Elephants, but it was like the only time in the movie it felt kind of whimsical, Dumbo was actually engaged in the performance and actually felt like a character during that scene. The rest of the movie was trash. I didn't care about any of the boring human characters.

The inside of what now?
Not a joke, look it up. :funny:

I'm glad I follow Josh Keaton on Twitter.

Also, what the Russos said about the future of filmmaking... I could picture the AI thing maybe happening in a hundred years from now, but definitely not anytime soon. Them treating like it'll occur in the next five years or so is out of touch at best and delusional at worst.

We already trusted Ritchie once with Aladdin, and that was meh. This sounds even worse!

I'm sort of concerned what they mean inspired by TikTok...?

Do they mean a jukebox, lip-synching musical? With lots of meme stuff?

If we were talking about competent filmmakers here, we would probably be talking about tiktok/twitter/internet in general flash in the pan kind of fame.

But this is the Russos we are talking about. They are going make the musical numbers similar to popular tiktoks to be cool with the kids.

So heroes will be like social media influencers and TikTokers except in Ancient Greece?

It is truly wild how the Russos could have just coasted off the good-will accrued by their stint with Marvel but instead became determined to become certified Enemies of Cinema trying to one-up themselves by dropping infuriatingly terrible interviews in between shockingly mediocre Netflix films.

They did once direct You Me & Dupree, lol.

Kind of harsh, but like that Gray Man movie was so strange. It felt like watching the imitation of an actual movie than watching an actual movie itself if that makes any sense. But not a parody...
