Fantasy Live action Hercules in the works at Disney

Has anyone started talking about Phil yet? Sorry the thread blew up. Anyway I reckon Peter Dinklage would be an amazing Phil.

It would be fun to get an unknown for Herc. Jelani Alladin played him on Broadway and I reckon he can make the jump

This would be amazing

I'm sure it'll be more akin to Aladdin in that it'll be the same story but not a shot for shot remake (disliked Lion King for that reason).

Hercules is a teenager in the film isn't he so they should probably cast someone 18-25.. I'm not familiar with many actors in that bracket... maybe Dacre Montgomery? Anyway..

Zeus: Brendan Fraser
Hades: Bill Hader
Dacre Montgomery is actually a really solid shout. He really looks the part and isn't too big of a star.

Yes please, and please keep this thread going people...im enjoying what is going on here.
Hercules is in the top of my favorite disney movies list, so im all for this and the casting wishes etc.

I honestly wouldn't mind Dacre Montgomery or KJ Apa for Herc. Can Montgomery sing?

Jeff Goldblum for Hades?

never been a big fan of the movie - it’s too goofy compared to Hunchback and Tarzan.
Also Hercules as son of two gods is just wrong.
But as an epic live movie like the new Mulan...could be interesting

This movie has potential to be Disney’s best live action remake yet

Out of everyone who worked on the animated film, Danny Devito NEEDS to come back! Would love to see James Woods reprise his role as Hades but I think the guy got blacklisted. In that case, I can really see Jeff Goldblum play the part

As long as they play up the fantasy. Do not try to make this realistic version. Like the cartoon, play up the visuals!

I approve of this news . The original isn't even all that great so they could definitely deliver something better here. Go more the Mulan route here please.

I would go with Christopher Walken for Hades, because we know he's a song-and-dance man.

IMO, the biggest issue with the original is that the main character becomes really boring after he becomes an adult. That's something that can be easily improved upon with this.

It was a comedy first and foremost, like Aladdin was. Musker and Clements are known for that.

You can tell that they were trying to replicate Aladdin's tone with the focus on humor and pop culture references. It's ironic since Greek mythology is some of the darkest stuff ever made up but it was surely done on purpose since Disney had come off of one of its darkest animated films with Hunchback and they wanted to get back into that Aladdin zone.

Should there be two different actors playing him? A young version an older adult version?
or just cast someone between those age ranges and make him up/or cg him(ala Captain American style) to look younger/older, skinner/stronger ?

Cause in the original movie he made a very noticeable tranformation from teen to adult

Hades - Sam Rockwell
Rockwell would really kick ass in the role. Him or Bob Odenkirk.

I can see them casting someone in their mid-20's for the role and take the Captain America route for teenage Hercules using a body double.

It'd be easier to keep Hercules looking young but I don't think you'd need to need CGI or make up.

I wonder if they’ll actually film in Greece?

also, who could play Zeus? Good Blum would actually be better for that role I reckon than Hades

Odenkirk is such a great suggestion for Hades.

I'm having a thought. Nick Kroll and John Mulaney for Pain and Panic. Never really cared much for those characters even as a kid but I do love me some Kroll and Mulaney. They could really have fun with it.

Yeah, Woods would be a PR nightmare. But Devito should definitely come back.

I love the Goldblum and Rockwell suggestions for Hades. But my top choice for a while now has been Alan Cumming. He's got the flair and theatrical experience. They definitely need to write a good song for him in this movie.

In the end, above all else, I think the Muses will be the make or break casting call.

Wow.
I am excited for this!

This is one of my favorite's Disney animated.

Though I believe Disney will cast unknown as Hercules like they cast Aladdin.
