Fantasy Live action Hercules in the works at Disney

It depends on if they're keeping the modern humor aspect of the original or if they're going to go for a different tack. Hades was written as a sleazy glad-handing used car salesman, not sure if they'll try that again.

Chris Pratt could be Hercules. Agree that Danny DeVito could easily be Phil again.

Wonder how they'll handle Pain and Panic?

It would be cool if Ryan Gosling gets the part of Hercules, it would be full circle since he was Young Hercules years ago. And then on top of that he can sing. Then again they might want someone younger.

Ryan Reynolds could work as Hades but he’d just be playing a PG (and blue) Deadpool.

I agree that Devito should come back to play Phil. Really curious who they get to play Hercules and especially, Meg. For some reason I can see Christopher Walken as Hades, but I don't see that happening.

The only reason I wouldn’t want to see them do it is that, unless I see a future film from them that doesn’t have it, their aesthetic is pretty much just boring office spaces and grey concrete, and Hercules needs to be a colorful film.

Tonally and filmography wise, Favreau and Verbinski fit much better. Just look at the Iron Man and the Pirates films, especially the latter, which strike a good balance of large, mythical scale, swashbuckling set pieces and good camraderie between characters. I can totally picture that translating to a live action Hercules film.

The only clincher is who they get to write it. That’s gonna make or break it. Verbinksi is pretty hit or miss when it comes to that.
Eh, yeah. I think that aesthetic fit the Captain America sequels and Infinity War looked better. I don't think their aesthetic in previous films should automatically rule them out, but I see where you're coming from.

I think Chris Pratt or Ryan Gosling are too old for this type of Hercules. It should probably be an unknown 20-something. Again, innocent is the key. More in line with Chris Evans from the first Captain America.

Ryan Reynolds would definitely make for a fun Hades.

Aaron Tveit is in his mid 30s, but could probably pass as a campy youthful Hercules. Ditto for Billy Magnussen.

They’d probably get Kevin Hart to play Phil. I don’t think he’s done a Disney movie yet.

I’m only interested in this for the chance at a sequel that I’ve always wanted. I’d say no to Reynolds as Hades. Cut the muses down to 3 and get Destiny’s Child or En Vogue. Maybe David Corenswet for Herc.

I'm sure it'll be more akin to Aladdin in that it'll be the same story but not a shot for shot remake (disliked Lion King for that reason).

Hercules is a teenager in the film isn't he so they should probably cast someone 18-25.. I'm not familiar with many actors in that bracket... maybe Dacre Montgomery? Anyway..

Zeus: Brendan Fraser
Hades: Bill Hader

No thank you. They've already ruined enough of the animated classics with the remakes.

I would wait until Deadline or Hollywood Reporter actually reports on this project being made.

Just keep James Woods as a mocap Hades.

Do Black Cauldron, you cowards. :o

Directed by Sam Rami

Agree on them improving on the original animated film. Despite enjoying it when I was younger, it’s not perfect. There’s a Lindsay Ellis video essay which better articulates a lot of the issues with it better than I could.

I think I watched that months ago. Its funny to hear the hot mess of a story that was Hercules.

James Wood has to return as Hades

Wood's is portrayal of Hades is too iconic...but he's 73 and i think Disney could lure him out his cave with a little digital deaging.

I watched that essay some time ago. Good for Lindsay Ellis that she has an opinion (we all do), but it didn't change my views on the movie one bit.

James Woods is a right-wing nutjob predator these days. They ain't touching him with a ten foot pole. Not to say he didn't steal the show as Hades in the animated film, but he definitely won't be in this.

I don't think Disney will be getting in business with Woods anytime soon based on his tweets.

Meg really would be tailor made for Ariana Grande.

Russo Bros. are producing so Tom Holland for Hercules and Chris Hemsworth for Hades. Don't fight it, you know it'll happen!

Look Woods is crazy. Just absolutely a nut job. But if Woods isn’t playing Hades, I’m not interested.

I feel like he could be Pain or Panic.

Also, Kingdom Hearts Cinematic Universe. If not now, when?
