eh i thought it was good. im really digging how Spidey is going to be a wanted vigilante rather than a hero. reminds me of the original Batman films vs Chris Nolan's Batman. instead of being the hero like Spidey was in the first 3 films (or somewhat of a "hero" for Spider man and Spider-Man 2), hes seen as a vigilante. and, going back to the Lizard, instead of the colorful villain that the comics make him out to be, he seems much darker. if i didnt know any better, i'd say that Nolan himself was directing this film.
Aye, that is part of the problem for me watching the trailer, it's like they are trying to make a mix of Batman and Spider-man, and so he doesn't really feel like spider-man.
I do hope they keep him the type of hero who is regarded as a public menace though, they did have that in the Raimi films, but they also had that thing of the public making their own mind up when Spider-man saves them, which you did get in the books, but of course it would be also be nice to see some members of the public still regarding Spidey as a menace when he saves them, that we did not see.
As for the Lizard look, I like that we didn't get a good look at him in the trailer, but going by that image that was released on the toy, and what we did see in the trailer...dunno, haha, he looks fine from what I have seen, difficult to tell though. Yeah, we are used to seeing the snout and the lab coat, but perhaps they did make-up/CGI tests with a snout and it just didn't work in live action, maybe looked cartoonish or something, and they wanted him to look as real as possible.
The lab coat, I can understand why they didn't have him running around in that, just not very plausible, and again, maybe in the tests, it just looked better to have him au natural, the scales and whatnot may have an interesting texture they didn't want to cover up.
Harry Knowles said he was gonna look at the Lizard as a visual combo of the Scorpian and the Lizard, which is not a bad way of looking at him.
