I'm old enough to remember that tickets were once cheap enough that I would go see a movie I loved several times. For example, I saw the first Spider-Man movie five times in theaters, and I saw Spider-Man 2 six times. No way would I think about doing that now, sadly. It takes a lot for me to want to see a movie in theaters more than once nowadays.
That said, I might be seeing Logan again this weekend. I have plans to hang out with a friend, and we decided that we're either going to see that or John Wick 2 (which I haven't seen yet).
Weekend B.O. for March 10-12 per industry Friday night estimates:
1.) Kong: Skull Island (20th/Leg), 3,846 theaters / $20M Fri. (includes $3.7M in previews) / 3-day: $52.5M /Wk 1
2.) Logan(Fox), 4,071 theaters (0)/ $10.8M Fri. (-67%) / 3-day: $36.7M (-58%)/Total: $151.5M/Wk 2
Through friday Logan has 125 million domesticly.and 190 million overseas with
316 million WW.already outgrossed WW first X-men.
Thing is there is noway to adjust for inflation foregin box office.
Logan will this weekend past the wolverine's unadjusted 132 million domesticly and may past it's 146 million ajusted domesticly.First class unadjusted is at
146 million.
Logan is still likely to hit 200 million domesticly before leaving theaters.
Its pretty much guaranteed to make over $200 million domestic
Logan also had a great Saturday seeing a 59% rise over Friday for a $16.5M Saturday, putting the Wolverine R-rated threequel at $39M in its second weekend, down 56% for a 10-day cume of $153.8M.
Hopefully everyone here sees it a couple of more times and gives it some legs. :PLooks like Logan couldn't beat the X-Men general frontloadness. A 56% second weekend drop is actually pretty decent for the film at this point.
Logan also had a great Saturday seeing a 58% rise over Friday for a $16.4M Saturday, putting the Wolverine R-rated threequel at $37.9M in its second weekend, down 57% for a 10-day cume of $152.7M.
The gorilla also faced off with the Wolverine in most markets as last week’s champ Logan landed another $70.3M for an overseas cume of $285.6M ($436.6M worldwide). The sophomore offshore frame reps a 56% drop from open with Fox/Marvel’s well-reviewed R-rated pic tracking nicely versus other X-Men titles.
As for Logan in IMAX, Hugh Jackman’s final turn as the X-Man added $1.8M on 438 screens including $1.4M in China for a cume of $27.1M.
In 79 markets, the 2nd frame overall is 20% bigger than X-Men: Apocalypse and 10% behind X-Men: Days Of Future Past at current exchange rates. With $5.9M in Brazil this session, Logan provided Fox with its biggest second weekend ever in the market. In China, the James Mangold-directed threequel is headed towards a phenomenal $90M. But it did lose some ground this frame to Amblin Entertainment’s A Dog’s Purpose which overtook the No. 1 slot in its 2nd walk around the Middle Kingdom block.
Logan has surpass all Wolverines movies in terms of Worldwide box office. And now is at fifth place among all 10 x-men movies.
