I'm sorry, but that's really just grasping at straws.
Both those weather effects needed enhancing in my view.
They also would've polished a lot of good things out of the movie. Heck the Disney version of DOFP would not have been half the movie we actually got.
I'm not saying the Disney/Marvel superhero movies are perfect but they are better at pacing, special FX and showcasing superpowered action. DoFP just needed a bit more enhancement...
Maybe that's why Fox hasn't even confirmed that 'Supernova' as a working title is actually a thing.
Maybe but, after seeing Apocalypse, do you really think Fox could pull off a Dark Phoenix Saga? For instance, the make-up/prosthetics needed for the otherworldly Shi'ar, Starjammers, Imperial Guard? I feel like Apocalypse pushed things to the limits with regards to make-up, special FX and costuming on the X-Men series. If you're gonna do epic fantasy, you need a director like Cameron or Ridley Scott, or you need a studio like Disney. Maybe we just saw Singer's own limitations?
Which, if that's true, is an interesting and balsy move that Disney never would pull off. Just like the rest of this entire movie that we're supposed to be discussing in this thread. Or Deadpool or most of the recent Fox movies other than Apocalypse. Now we'll see what happens in Supernova when that time comes, but for now Logan is still at 97% on Rotten Tomatoes.
That's great for Logan, though it remains to be seen if that rating sticks and what the opening weekend is, and the mainstream reception.
I'm interested to see it, but it doesn't sound like it leaves excitement for what's coming next, because it's a grand finale to the franchise. And I don't know if a subsequently announced 90s prequel will seem very enticing either. Let's see what happens.
