Logan Logan - news & discussion - Part 3

I disagree. Mangold said that in Logan the X-Men are celebrated as heroes. They're like celebrities. Makes sense that they'd have a comic book written about their adventures. Which is why I'm still holding out hope for quick shot of Hugh in the costume.

I'm thinking it's quite possible. No idea how it would fit in the film as it's presented so far, but Jackman knows this is the last chance and knows that fans have been asking for it. This comic book idea provides a perfect excuse to show it off in one way or another.

The costume probably wouldn't fit in the tone that Mangold is going for.

Whoa, watching that Empire interview with Hugh, I can't believe that Patrick lost 22 pounds to play Charles in this film! That's huge dedication at his (albeit very energetic and active) age. That's some Christian Bale-esque stuff right there and definitely adds to his performance which has also been getting some rave reviews.

Thank you! I had this debate a few pages back, and was told that she was never depicted as their leader. :loco:

No, people were saying it wasn't a Mystique central film since she was useless and didn't have much screentime compared to other characters. You were saying it was all about her since she was leader of the X-Men and Prof X was an afterthought(silly). But she basically like Cyclops in X1, who actually showed more leadership skills since he was actually there with the team in battle, as oppose to just barking orders on the plane before landing and splitting away from the team like Mystique did. But we all know that X1 isn't about Cyclops.

Like as if Mystique just stood there in the background and wasn't barking a speech inside the danger room, telling how her and her friends were calling themselves back in the day before the final battle, being seen as a hero by younger mutants, convincing Erik that he still have a family, she even brought Nightcrawler to the mansion.

Please. She just got more importance than all of the characters there except for Xavier and Magneto. Apocalypse was just a villain of the day that they had to beat. While Jean was mostly there for the Phoenix reveal and Cyclops.

Okay, so you agree with me about it not being all about Mystique and Prof X not being an afterthought.

They're trying to minimize her importance just because she barely had any action in the movie, but I don't buy it.

We should get back to Logan, LOL....

Who ever said it was all about Mystique?

I'm pretty sure they meant that Mystique still got a lot of importance in the film than most of the characters which is true.

That was the discussion a few pages back. Someone argued that Xavier actually was afterthought compared to her.

Speaking of Mystique and Logan did anyone else realize that this movie also features a hero worship arc like in Apocalypse?

I believe it was brought up when we first discussed the whole meta tease of comics in the trailer.

Well given how Xavier should have been the one giving the speech at the end, then that's not totally disagreeable.

Apparently that is going to be a plot point between Logan and Laura.

But I think it's going to be handled better here than it was in Apocalypse.
