Mystery/Thriller LOST - But Not Forgotten...Except by the Emmys - Part 1

I can re-watch LOST over and over again and never get tired of it. I think I've seen it about 5 times in a row at this point.

I tried to rewatch it last year, but couldn't make it through season three. Plus knowing where things go... I just didn't have it in me to watch any more.

Lost still is my favorite show ever, and probably the biggest, most complicated piece of fiction I've seen on the screen. I love that they took risks in every season, including the last one. They never played it safe like most tv series, and that's one of the things I appreciate the most about the show.

Unfortunately, I feel the same way. LOST will always have a place in my heart. It was truly the first television series that became something so much more than just a show to me. It was huge in my life.

But now knowing where it all ends, it's just better to remember the series that was. Jackface forever.

And the score never gets old. Giacchino's work on this series is just devastatingly beautiful. I could listen to it for the rest of my life. Yes.

So I'm watching this for the first time all the way through and I'm up to Season Three. When does it start to go Sci Fi/Fantasy? Other then the Island doing a bit of healing it is still a fairly realistic show.

It begins that way in all honesty. The rest of the show is a gradual reveal of that right until the very end.

And yes Michael Giacchino's score is phenomenal. Certainly the best score I've ever heard in a TV show.

Is Fringe really that good? I tried watching when it first started, thinking it would be like X-Files, but it never hooked me and I dropped it sometime during the first season. I would be willing to give it another chance if it gets a lot better later on.

Wish they would release a regular box set of the series. Can't find the original anymore for a decent price. And the single Blu-Ray sets are also priced too damn high.

Yesterday at a car boot sale (yard sale for you guys I think..?) I found a guy selling the Season 4 and 5 boxsets for £7 together, but instead I went and bought old Daredevil comics from a friend and some cold pasta from the shop across the road.

Should I have gone for it?

Walter was probably my favorite character in any series or movies in the last 10 years. I don't think there can be another Walter again. It's a shame too.

Lost had several good characters in it too but none of them could match Walter and the story on Lost itself got lost and confusing whereas Fringe kept it coherent despite Walter.

I was re-watching LOST during the summer. Season 3 used to be my least favorite, but now it's moved up on my list. "Flashes Before Your Eyes", "The Man from Tallahassee", "The Brig", and "Through the Looking Glass". Damn good TV.

Is Fringe really that good? I tried watching when it first started, thinking it would be like X-Files, but it never hooked me and I dropped it sometime during the first season. I would be willing to give it another chance if it gets a lot better later on.

Yeah. It gets so much better halfway though the first season (when Abrams, Orci, & Kurtzman passed it off to JH Wyman and Jeff Pinkner). They kinds drop the X-Files freak of the week and go toward big stories, but with the the "freak of the week" episodes sprinkled throughout that actually tie into the main story.

So, a document containing all the information on the original future of the show, potential stories, character info etc originally sent to ABC during the filming of the pilot has leaked. Per J.J., we made a very specific effort in this document to say we were not going to be serialized, we were not going to be genre and we were not going to do what Alias had done. So even though I think it was our intention to do all of the above, we needed to put that in the document because the document was essentially a letter to ABC saying ‘Here’s what the show’s going to be.’

It's kinda lengthy (nearly thirty pages) but nearly all the potential stories were never carried out, which is a shame, and if this document had been the blueprint for how the show would have looked, Lost would have been very different from the one we all love

Pretty much Lost ended up doing every last thing they did not want to do in their original bible.

They went serialized, enlarged the cast instead of shrinking it, went scifi/supernatural, left the island, brought people to the island, it went completely the opposite in almost every respect.

I have not checked out that document yet. Just wanted to check in to say I have finished my summer annual re-watch of LOST yesterday. And I don't care what all the haters say, the show worked for me and still works like gang busters to me on my fourth time through! And that INCLUDES all the time travel stuff, Season 6, AND the "flash sideways!"

Lost is still my number 1 TV show, and Breaking Bad is getting a close second. I'm starting my first rewatch of BB next week. I haven't done a rewatch of a series, other than Lost (like 4 times).
