I went back and read 'You Were Never Really Here' short novel about 90pgs or so. Yeah, I had forgotten how good it was, and if they follow the novel closely it will be a great film. Joaquin was cast perfectly. This just mved into my top ten most anticipated films of 2017 all the way to the top three. So dark and bloody. Phoenix with a hammer as his favorite weapon, believe that.


I hope the director doesnt change most of it, it is goddamn perfect for a film as is.

I miss the show too. After it was cancelled and it was announced he'd appear on Arrow, I was glad to hear that his time on the CW was limited. Downgrade for existing in that universe imo. Would fare better on HBO or Netflix.

Amazon needs a good show. They should hash it out with DCE and rebrand the show as HellBlazer.

With enough time to write a 8-13 episode season/10 hour movie a team of passionate writers can bang out something out as good if not better than Netflix's Daredevil.

HBO is demanding when it comes to original programming. It's part of their prestige. I could see them greenlighting a miniseries or even a show, but not an entire universe like Netflix and CW.

Question: so one thing people criticize the DCEU is going all in too fast with their universe, going straight to Justice League after only four films, with Dawn of Justice being a commercial for JL, similar to how Iron Man 2 was product placement for The Avengers.

My question- and maybe this isn't comparable due to different mediums, but didn't the animated Justice League, and by extension, Unlimited, do the same thing? Yeah, Aquaman and Flash, as far as I remember, did appear in Superman, but they never had their own series. Same with Wonder Woman, Hawkgirl, or Martian Manhunter. And quadruple that by the time Unlimited came around. But that seemed to go over well with viewers, despite that.

Again, I know it's probably not the best comparison, but just something I'd been thinking about while rewatching Unlimited.

Its not a problem at all if executed well.Many movies have done so for eg: LOTR,GOTG,Magnificient Seven i.e introduce many characters/a team at once without needing a prequel to introduce them.Avengers did it,but that was an outlier not a necessity.There is nothing wrong with the way DC are doing it consider they execute it well in JL.

DCF just needs to do their own thing whether it's copying somethings from or doing the opposite of Marvel. Either way they're damned by naysayers so they should use what they want from the competition's formula at their own discretion. First and foremost focus on making quality films. The MCU doesn't have a monopoly on cinematic story telling. Since the time of the Roman Empire "nothing new under the sun" was already a saying. So **** it, form follows function and all that.

Don't worry so much about the competition, but focus on pleasing the fans and then gradually bringing new ones in.

DCF is still young and they have the best superhero roster IMO. The audience are clearly hungry for a DC movie that blows anything the MCU has made out of the water. Otherwise they wouldn't be putting up the numbers that they do despite the criticism. Now it's on them to deliver.

Watched "The Da Vinci Code" earlier. I love that movie. I watch it every time I catch it on TV. Since everyone is raging about RT now I decided to check the score on there - 25%. Why ? I know religion is a touchy subject, but why ?

Some of my favourite movies while growing up that I always used to watch with my family were Home Alone,Ace Ventura,Baby's day out etc.When I checked their RT ratings I was surprised(maybe not so much they arent masterpieces,they are slapstick comedy,but they are pretty damn enjoyable),but then again critics have always been harsh against comedies.

Btw I love Dan Brown's writing.I am however unconvinced how well they could be translated into movies(there is so much information and so many twists :P ),I am yet to see the movies.I would love for Inferno to be adapted on screen.

Edit : I just checked,its going to be adapted.Movie is out this winter.

I'm watching The First Avenger for the first time since 2011, and The Red Skull knew about Asgard, while in Thor's movie they needed to dig a children's book (as poked fun at in the LEGO Marvel game) to believe Thor talking about Asgard.
