Alright some of my thoughts on all the **** that has been going down for the last 12 hrs. First things first, the media has no idea what's going on, that much is clear. Different contradicting reports, every day there is a new rumor, they have as much idea as we do, and we no longer can take their word as gospel.
Second, what seems like there are multiple movies in development, but they may or may not be made. They havent even been greenlit. They just have been discussed. The difference is Marvel dont let that information leak, but DC apparently does(Bravo Geoff Johns). So basically the only confirmed movies coming are Aquaman, Shazam, WW2 and possibly Batman and SS2. The rest are still in various stages of development, and they may or may not be made.
Ive decided that I will not freak out anymore when DC announces 67 more films. I realise its not official, they are just being reported by THR etc. I will see JL. Then I will wait for Aquaman and Shazam and hope they are good. And only care about the films that have a director & writer attached and are in pre-productiion.
As for this inside DCEU/outside DCEU bs, why does it really matter? A Batman movie doesnt have to reference the outside DCEU, neither does an Aquaman movie. As long as they dont recast Affleck, I really dont care. I just care if its a good movie. 99% of the audience wont be able to tell the difference if its set in the DCEU or not.
I'll say this though, and I believe this completely. When Zack and braintrust were in charge, we actually had a solid state. There was a fixed and logical plan, and the projects had dates. They knew what they were doing.
This new regime, they might to, but they dont make it look like so. Every week or so a new film is considered, and Geoff Johns and co, they dont clear up any of these rumours, and instead let them snowball into what is right now a mess. There's no transparency at all, they could just clear up so much with a simple tweet. And all this is just negative PR for JL.
So in conclusion, I'm just waiting for JL now. I'm taking it one movie at a time. I dont know what the future of the DCEU is, I know its not going to be like the MCU where all movies are connected and are building upto a event. Its probably going to be many different standalone films which are loosely connected, and other teamups like JL etc. I'm okay with that. I just hope that the movies that are made are good movies.
