Got a good feeling about Aquaman, I dont think it'll be a phenomenon like Wonder Woman but I think it'll be crowd pleasing.

I think the stiff competition is gonna keep it from getting Wonder Woman numbers, but I do think it's gonna be great and a hit. I'm predicting something like Doctor Strange numbers.

:hmr: Been a fan for 12 years, excited to bae get mainstream recognition outside of China.

She looks great. Wonder what she's gonna look like in the armor.

Like I told ya bastahs a week ago, regardless of what that fatman Mayimbe told ya'll, they were actively casting for Batgirl. Hell, I won't be surprised if some of them casting tapes for the character are out there soon, just like Shazam.

With Didio in charge, I'm not sure what kind of "impact" any book could have to be honest. The main said himself that they are willing to approve any writer's pitch as long as there aren't any everlasting consequences. Dan Didio is a textbook "Fans don't want character development" type guy.

I hear you, and while I think we've already gotten our fair share of nuanced character development from King thus far, I fully expect the status quo to be restored in one way or another by the end of his run. It's kind of like what we were discussing the other day w/ Hal. You'll have some writer come along and inject new life into a given character by expanding on his/her origins or taking his/her current heroics in an entirely different direction; then a new creative team takes over and basically ****s all over what came before. That can be really frustrating for a lot of readers. Ultimately, though, these characters are fictional; as such, we can take the parts of their incredibly long histories that resonate with us the most and use that to define them as we so choose.

So that's where that influx of worn out couches came from.

If we're talking worldwide numbers, Doc Strange was surprisingly Marvel's highest-grossing solo origin movie (until BP came along, of course). I doubt Aquaman hits quite that high, but if it's good, it shouldn't have a problem crossing $500mil at least, imo. Domestically, I could see it hitting close to Batman Begins, around $200mil.

Into the Spider-verse is animated, so won't bite into the same pie
Mortal Engines underperforms/flops
Poppins Returns looks fairly low-key like Christopher Robin, different demo too
Bumblebee = Iron Giant was a great movie but a bomb quite unfortunately, biggest competition but not saying much
Alita won't change the tide for anime movies

Bumblebee may suffer from some of Last Knight's fallout. I think people finally got sick of those movies after that movie and may choose to skip thism

I'm a Transformers apologist but I hated The Last Knight... Bumblebee looks like an upgrade. I'll bring it up to a billion myself.

Yeah...Bayformers used to be so straight-forward and dumb fun before Extinction and then especially The Last Knight.
Bumblebee might possibly be going too far in the other direction in scaling back this much.

I think Bumblebee will be a modest success.

What is wrong with you?? AoE has Stanley Tucci delivering the GOAT 'WHAT THE F**K' & Optimus rides a T-Rex Bot. TF doesn't get better than that.

Anthony Hopkins outshined Stanley Tucci; that's going to haunt me forever.
I thought the rest of it was pretty boring. They managed to find less entertaining human characters and got lost on what the plot was.

I don't hate it but it's overstuffed and too long for it's own good.

Plus it seemed like Bay stopped giving a damn with TLK. The aspect ratio change ups were annoying AF. I think even his most vocal detractors will praise his framing and composition of action scenes. But he just didn't care about that in TLK.

Agreed. Sucks that I'm a BatCat fan though. lol

I distanced myself from the Transformers stuff as a whole for over a generation. The first Bayformers (seen it in 2013, didn't finish) and the 1986 animated movie did not encourage me to try more of this stuff.

I quite liked the first Transformers movie. Megan Fox was so hnnngh, she still is, but that was her oddly in her prime.

I think Transformers as a 'concept' is very much reliant on having experienced the original series first time round, (as I did, aged 9) during it's 80's hey day, the films merely banked on nostalgia without putting any level of effort into the films, it's thought was merely, 'put smashy-crashy robots on screen' and you'll get an audience automatically, which works only so long, before the short-fall begins to become apparent.

Yup. But then some of the best aspects of DC comics have been longstanding changes. It's now a given that Lois knows Superman is Clark. They are actually together in most versions. They have a son now that's a mix of both their personalities. Bruce has a son. These two characters are evolving. If it weren't for this, we wouldn't have the amazing Supersons books. Johns revamped the whole GL mythos. There are plenty of other characters who have progressed and that progression has been retained even with new writers.

There were some great Powergirl and Booster Gold development that got lost due to the New 52 reboot. That was a shame. But if nothing changes, nothing changes. They may be fictional, but people invest in them, otherwise we wouldn't read the books. In a sense, that makes them real because these characters are real in our heads.

To me, Didio is just a used car salesman running DC comics.

That's not an accurate take.

If anything, Cogman stole the show in TLK. Don't get me wrong, Hopkins was awesome but Cogman just about edges the veteran dude.

Loved The Transformers as a kid. Really enjoyed the first movie. I'll leave it at that. :csad:

James Gunn walks up the disney steps, new suit on and a smile on his face.

Some bald nerds start another meaningless online petition and Dave Bautista goes back to direct to video movies.
