First Avenger Love Interest?

Is there any comic precedent for that? If there is, I still think it'll be kinda difficult given Black Widows supposed role in Iron Man 2. She'll be seen as a total **** if she goes for Iron Man and then Captain America.....and maybe Hawkeye somewhere in between....

Well everything going on in the movies doesn't HAVE to have happened in the comics. And if she's only hitting on Tony for info and such, it won't be seen so much that she's a **** (no confirmation on this but if that's the case). And nothing says she has to date Hawkeye.

It could add some humor too actually, like Stark being jealous she would only hit on him for business but go for Rogers based on personality, like "what's he got that I don't?" if they don't make it too cheesy.

well yes still think they will probably use that gail character as a girlfriend steve had before he became cap. Then we find out she died or is very old in the present time and had a good life and all that. Then in avengers/present day get to who ever he is more assoicated with romantically in comics.

Seriously? Nobody figured it out yet? This is gonna be Cap's love interest. You know it to be true:

I think maybe, since they are going to have him be a guy who wants to belong.
First he is too skinny and sickly, then he is a big perfect guy, maybe it will show that his love life has been sort of empty. No serious girlfriend, maybe a girl he talks to or something. Then once he becomes Captain America, maybe or maybe not, once he becomes Cap they say he still doesn't belong. So maybe that means, he still feels like an outsider. Plus he will be mostly fighting in a war right?
What if there was no serious love interest? Would that be a problem?

In current Cap, she's all over Bucky.

Black Widow's relationship with Iron Man is not real. She's just seducing her way to the Iron Man blueprints. With Captain America, she'd really be in love. If played right, it could ensue some hilarity between Steve and Tony. :hehe:

Personally, I think the whole idea of Black Widow seducing Tony just for information to be really lame. She's supposed to be a super spy. She should be able to steal the blueprints, or whatever the hell else she wants, in a single night with a few gadgets, some mad Karate skills, and maybe some of those magic suction cups that allow people to walk along walls. Why would she need to waste time playing an assistant, and "seducing" a guy that would fall into bed with anything that moved? Are they doing the Ulimates story line or what?

I don't even think, if played right, that could get some laughs in the Avengers movie. If Tony figured out she seduced him just for information, do you think he'd still love her enough to fight for her attention? Tony's supposed to change women more often than he changes underwear. It would be really annoying if he fell head over heels for every single girl he meets, and he couldn't even bring himself to hate the ones that betrayed his ass. I do not want Tony Stark to be a love sick, jealous puppy. He is not Peter Parker!!

Also, in Iron Man 2 it's rumored that Tony might be depressed that Pepper is falling for Happy. Do you really want to repeat that in the Avengers movie and have him depressed that the Black Widow is falling for Captain America? How many women does Tony Stark have to fall in love with and lose to his friends before it becomes cliche?

Because having his tech and armours stolen is Tony's biggest fear. She'd have to be one of the smartest people in the world to crack his security and get to his blueprints. Why bother when she has boobs?

Personally I think she gets attached to Stark.

yay for cliche city!

If he's jealous it doesn't mean he's in love with her, it could just mean his ego is hurt that she went for some boy scout when he was laying the classic "Stark moves" on her.

Yes, Tony Stark is so afraid that his technology will be stolen, that he'll give the secrets to the Iron Man armor to anyone with a ***** and big boobs. That way, everyone will have it, and no one will want to steal it anymore, and he won't have to worry anymore. See the logic?

Tony Stark's new pick up line: "Hey, baby, come home with me tonight I'll teach you how to make little Iron Men." **eyebrow wiggle**

In fact, I heard rumors that the Hammer drones we saw attacking Iron Man and War Machine in the trailer weren't actually drones, and they weren't built by Hammer. Those "Hammer drones" were all Iron Man suits constructed and piloted by the women who slept with Tony throughout the movie. They stole the Iron Man blueprints while Tony was too busy putting his pants back on to notice them downloading stuff from his hard drive.

Yes, seriously, the only thing Tony learned from Obadiah's betrayal was that the only people you can trust are TOTAL STRANGERS.....with boobs. :whatever:

uh,

I'm sure Tony Stark has been rejected before. Most likely he'd just move on to the next redhead. Pepper.....Natasha......Bethany Cabe?

I guess this sorta thing could work if it was played down like the Kirk/Uhura/Spock love triangle was in Star Trek. But again, unneeded cliche.

Maybe THAT'S why she infiltrates his organization, becomes his assistant and slowly gains his confidence, eh? :whatever:

How much time do you think this movie is going to cover? A few weeks? Months? I'll be really upset if Black Widow can gain Tony's trust in that short a time frame because, after Obadiah's betrayal, he shouldn't trust anyone that quickly.

It shouldn't be like: "Hey, Natalie, it's you're second week on the job, I trust you now because, like, you're my assistant and you're hot. Here's the blueprints for the arc reactor, and the password to my private server where I store all the schematics for the Iron Man armor. Don't go getting any ideas about stealing those and giving them to my rival Justin Hammer, okay? Oh, and can you be a dear and get me some coffee?"

EDIT: Oh, and this is all assuming she becomes his assistant DURING the movie, and she wasn't his assistant during the 6 month time frame between the end of the first movie and the beginning of the second. That would make it somewhat less improbable.

And I still think the idea of Tony trusting her just because he thinks he loves her to be lame, lame, lame. Can't the writers think of something a little more creative than that?

I really hate certain cliches if they're not done right. I really do. :csad:

On a totally off topic side note: I would totally buy the scenario if the romance angle was played down, and his assistant was Whitney Frost, and she had been working under cover with him for a long, long time, and became totally obsessed with him during that time. Her real identity was only revealed at the very end (she went by another name throughout the movie), in an after credits scene. During the movie she was scarred while trying to steal the Iron Man armor and blamed it on Tony. The romance angle could be played up more in Iron Man 3 when Whitney returns as Madam Masque.

Err... No, don't want.

How about, since most of the film takes place during WWII, his love interest be Agent 13?
She was an agent Cap met while fighting the the Nazis and the red Skull.
Agent 13 was also a government agent during WWII, a spy.
Agent13.jpg

Later on Cap meets her sister, after being unfrozen in modern times. Her sister turns out to be an agent of SHIELD.
but maybe they can change that to her grand daughter and change the her to Sharon Carter, agent of SHIELD.

Having his love interest be Agent 13 would make sense because he is fighting in a war and no time to meet anyone, except if he goes into the war with a girl back home like in the Ultimates.
But it would also go along with him associating more with fellow agents like himself. A workaholic who falls in love with another workaholic in the same line of work.
Plus, her character could represent the women who wanted to help all they could during WWII. Just as Bucky can represent the young men, to young for enlistment, who lied about their age or snuck into the war in order to help out in any way they could.

By Agent 13, do you mean Peggy Carter? People have already mentioned Peggy Carter in the thread, and while that's a good idea, it might make it difficult to have Sharon Carter (Peggy's sister turned niece) be Cap's love interest in a later movie because it'll seem like he's jumping from family member to family member depending on who is still young and hot. Some people are fine with that, some think that's weird.

However, do you know that Agent 13 also refers to Sharon Carter? I was confused when you wrote Agent 13 at first because I didn't know anyone besides Sharon Carter was ever called Agent 13 (I haven't read a lot of the old solo Cap comics). I'm like, why does he want Sharon Cater back in WWII:huh:?

In my opinion, it would be best if they kept Peggy Carter (the original Agent 13?) in the movie, but they didn't have Cap fall in love with her. Cap should be in love with Gail, but he should fight alongside Peggy in the war so later, when he is unfrozen, Sharon Carter should pursue him, and he her, because he fought alongside her grandmother/aunt/whatever and they have a special kind of connection with each other. That would keep all characters' histories intact, but eliminate any possible ick factor, and any cliche "Oh, look, there just so happens to be someone who looks like my old flame in this time period, too" factor.

What could happen is Cap falls in love with Agent 13, from WWII, and then is frozen. When he thaws out he finds her again. She is much older now and has had a life without him, kids, and grand children.
Even though they show Cap is still very much in love with her, she has moved on. And is in love with her husband.
Of coarse it wouldn't be that he just jumps to the next young lady in the family. But maybe he meets Sharon Carter, present, who is Agent 13's grand daughter. Even though he doesn't presue her, she reminds him so much of Agent 13 and they work together a lot. So eventually they could become a couple. Maybe it could just be hinted at in the second movie, where there is this tension between them. Like is Spider-man where he and MJ didn't actually get together till SM3.
Maybe in movie one he loves Agent 13, in movie two he and agent 13 find out they can never be together, and in movie three he could finally end up with Carter.

Or maybe in the first film Cap and Agent 13 could date but maybe are never serious, i don't know.

Or maybe it would be better to use your idea, much easier and faster paced.

will be interesting to see what they decide to go. i would perfer to go girlfriend before the war and he leaves her and then when he is unfrozen finds out she is still alive but very old and lived a happy life and all that. So they play up the angle he lost the love of his life and then sees she was good and then he could move on now in the present.

Going for his old girlfriend's descendant would be a little creepy and draw comparisons to Austin Powers.

To be honest, now that I'm actually reading more Cap and reading into Sharon, I don't want her in Caps life...at all.

She's just so goddamn negative all the time.

well the movie version if the character is included in a future film may not be totally like her comic counterpart.
