What bothers me is why they're still in the casting process this late in the game. The whole Holmes predicament should've been settled MONTHS ago, so there'd be room for re-writes.

Yes. Maybe it didn't start that way, but look at all of the people Joker has either killed or brutalized who Bruce has had an emotional attachment to.

I like it for one. The Joker should be someone that both Bruce and the audience hates, so when Bruce is tempted to kill the guy, we too can share in his dilemma.

That's how I see it. Joker will go after mobsters and such, but when Batman starts to interfere, Joker will go after Batman and the only real way he can do that is by going after Batman's allies. Rachel, Gordon and Dent.

Joker makes it personal.

Not getting this role in a million years.... and while Norton is solid... I ain't so high on him as everyone else... now we got two major question marks... looks like SPider Man will still be king of the Superhero trilogies...

THe thing is Dawes was a core character... you can replace supporting actors... Dawes was pivotal in Begins... but the bottom line is the movie ended her arc... very frustrating... I sound like a whiny kid but this is very disappointing

I got no problem with random booty (the 2 girls Bruce was with in BB were great)...it's just when they start being part of the story and open their mouth (to talk that is ) that it bugs me.

If they can make it work ala Pheiffer, then I'd be fine. But it's so f'n obvious they're only there to bring in a female audience and to be the typical love interest. Doesn't even matter that they're not written that way, it just screams, "hey, I'm not supposed to be here!"

I was thinking along the lines of TKJ. Joker kidnaps Gordon as bait to trap and kill Batman.

True, but I think this is the first time a comic book trilogy is being handled by the same exact crew for all 3 films. And if the last 2 are any indication, it looks like we'll have a huge hit.

The fact she is a core character is the reason why Nolan will probably recast. But I disagree with you that her character arc ended in BB.

Her character was created for a pivotal point in TDK. Remember Nolan and Goyer mapped out a Trilogy to begin with.

I don't want a love interest that has no personal value to be in the movie. Pfeiffer's Catwoman had real value because she just wanted to be swept away by Bruce and get to know him, love him, and be a part of his world and live at his castle. It was sort of the "prince charming meets commoner" fairy-tale Cinderella story.

Pfiffer and Kidman were probably the only two female love interests that had something in common with Bruce and they could share something in common with. Dawes it was just---well we were school sweethearts, we had some fun, then you changed and left, and then oooh now I got feelings for you again. Give me a stronger female lead and love interest than just that.

Her role will be to get killed off by the Joker. Will having a new actress take away from the power of that moment? Possibly, but at this late stage, I think Nolan feels more compelled to recast than to rewrite.

I mean, IMO, this was the true purpose of the character to begin with so they cannot abandon it now.

BB was the her character set up or backstory and know TDK will be the emotional punch that Nolan and Goyer intended.

i think its a little early to say considering nether trilogy is complete, and the Batman series isn't technically even a series yet

Spiderman is fantastic and i still consider the first one the best superhero movie ever, but i also consider Batman Begins the second best, so if TDK is as good as I am think it will be cause there will be more Batman in it, I can easily see it become the best superhero trilogy when its all said and done
