Luther coming to BBC America

Why are half the homes in this show crumbling wrecks with peeling paint and wallpaper?

It's Britain :D

Also Elba reminds so much of Tom Hardy sometimes, just his mannerisms and the way he sounds. May just be that he is so casual he just slips into the role (or Hardy reminds me of Elba. Whoever came first)

I've got to say, I almost started cheering when Tom gave those yob's a taste of their own medicine at the beginning. Scumbags.

holy wow...

this show is too good. Such an interesting premise for this episode. Can't John ever get a break?

I'm loving his budding relationship with Mary, it better not end badly.

I'm really mad about the certain death that happened. He's such a great character and has had a cool arc over the last 10+ episodes. It makes me sad for Luther...

I hope that's it for a while in terms of Luther losing people, after a while it gets a little annoying. I love 24 but by the end I just got fed up of everyone Jack Bauer got close to dying! Just let one goddamn live!

I was on Toms side all way through that episode but why did he have to do that at the end? :waa:

Great ending to a good season.

Even though I enjoyed the episode I did have a couple points. The police arresting Luther and the investigation into him was beyond stupid. Unarmed Luther talked to shotgun Tom who shot Justin so that means he is charged as an accomplice to Justin's murder even though they have no evidence to say Luther 'let' Tom go on his killing spree or said he supported his actions. WTF?

Ruth Wilson is great as Alice Morgan but she was acting like she was in a different show cracking out anecdotes, giving characters funny nicknames, pulling a McGuyver and generally chewing more scenery than a children's pantomime villain.

I thought Stark would have another layer to him. Some reason why he really hated Luther but it turns out he didn't and was just a *****e.

To me this final episode was just okay but the series in general was great. The Luther and Alice thing is too weird for me lol.

Luther - Film is a Prequel & Alice May Get a Spin-Off

Speaking at the Edinburgh TV Festival, Cross finally confirmed that it will be a prequel. The script is done and he hopes to get the film made next year.

Cross says: "It will follow his [Luther's] career in the earlier days, when he is still married to Zoe, and the final scene in the film is the first of the initial TV series." That scene being the death of a serial paedophile Henry Madsen (Anton Saunders) whom Luther failed to save from a fall off a catwalk in a chemical factory.

Cross says that part of the reason for doing a prequel was to bring back various supporting characters - something they couldn't do considering how events wrapped at the end of the third series.

Amongst the cast members slated to return alongside Idris Elba are DS Justin Ripley (Warren Brown), Luther’s wife Zoe (Indira Varma), and DCI Ian Reed (Steve Mackintosh).

Uncertain to return/cameo are DSU Rose Teller (Saskia Reeves), DSU Martin Schenk (Dermot Crowley), Benny Silver (Michael Smiley), Mark North (Paul McGann), or DCI Erin Gray (Nikki Amuka-Bird).

Unfortunately, by going the prequel route, the one character who won't make an appearance is the popular and murderous Alice Morgan (Ruth Wilson). Cross says Alice may return, however, as the lead in her own spin-off series.

Cross says: "The BBC is very interested in the project. The truth is I absolutely adore Alice! We're kind of thinking very loosely of a mix between The Talented Mr Ripley and The Last Seduction."

What the hell, that was the end-end? Like we'll never see beyond that...?

That pisses me the **** off. Why do the Brits love killing great things with no remorse or information? This has happened twice in just the last year with this show and The Hour.

Prequel film will be cool and all, but that series 3 ending was not an 'ending'. GRRRRRRRR

Neil Cross wouldn't mind doing more but Idris Elba is focusing more on film work now I think which is why he only wants to come back for Luther if its in movies.

I would rather see a Luther sequel movie than a prequel movie but with the way the show ended that might be difficult to do.

I got wind of this show by accident but once I got into it boy was it good. A prequel sounds good but I would love to know what happens with Luther and Alice.

And American networks don't kill off shows without any finish?.....

This doesn't start here in the US until September :cmad:, so i'm trying not to read spoilers.

How are they going to use Ripley in the prequel if he and Luther only first met in the beginning of S1?

I don't know how the rest of the US has patience to wait for this to air here. I had to torrent it the minute they finished over seas every night they aired.

It's toooooooo good to be morale about.

this show is so legit, I've been watching it on Netflix :woot:

alice is pretty hot too IMHO. :o

I hope they go forward with the planned movie, but hope it is made my the same people that make the show because if Hollywoods get's there grubby hands on it......

They should hire Neil Cross to write a Batman film. I think he would do a good job

“Your conscience has killed more people than I have,”

Great season...way too short...but i'm glad the final scene leaves the possibilities open for future adventures with John and Alice.

I have a question:

Why did Luther tell the vigilante to shoot Alice?

I just finished all three seasons. Idris Elba is phenomenal and Luther is a character that stands above the rest. What a fantastic show; the writing, the cinematography, the music... all just perfect.

What I enjoyed the most is that it feels like a comic book. Like, to me, this was just some wild Vertigo comic that never was. Luther is a superhero in every right, and his relationship with Alice seems like something along the lines of Batman and the Joker (if the Joker was female and slightly less demented, ha).

I love this show and will definitely watch through again. I swear, Elba walks like a boss. The Idris Elba School of Walking needs to be a real thing.

I hope it continues in some form or another. A prequel movie would be nice, but I'd rather see what's next for the epic duo.

Love this show, and I dunno it just doesn't seem to get the attention and acclaim it deserves. I mean all the hysteria over Dexter and Breaking Bad, what about Luther?

This show got Idris Elba his Golden Globe.
