Mad Max: Fury Road - Part 6

I think the video game covered some stuff about the nearby towns

Call me crazy but I still think this can grab at least one major nom at the oscars especially with other awards shows nominating it. If it doesn't get one I see this being the "Lego movie" of this season in terms of Internet outrage to it not getting a nom.

The film is coming to HBO on January 9th.

It better be nominated for Best Picture or hell even Best Screenplay

Um, yes there was. Screenplay is more than just dialogue.

I doubt it will be nominated for adapted screenplay since the movie didn't really have a screenplay.

If you watched the making of the movie you will see that the movie was shot in sequence using 5800+ concept art pictures as a guide, almost like filming a actual comic book.

But the movie is a high achievement in directing and must be at the very least be nominated.

If i'm not mistaken, Borat didn't realy have a script either, but was still nominated.

Anyway, Directingwise, it was ace, even if it doesn't get nominated for best picture, Miller deserves a nomination (and from what i've seen so far, a win too) for best Director.

The video game is supposed to be a prequel to Fury Road. The only town from the movie that you can go to in the game is Gas Town and it is ruled by Immortan Joe's son Scabrous Scrotus. I guess after Max killed Scabrous Scrotus he was then replaced by the People Eater.

13 nominations. The recognition is very well deserved in all categories. Hope Miller, Sixel for editing and Charlize at least wins in all their categories.

Rebecca Ferguson for MI:6 is also nominated in the same category for Best Action Female as Charlize. I'd give it to Charlize only because Furiosa showed more range and depth.

Theron deserves more love from the awards circuit. I appreciate that Lead Actress is stacked this year, but Furiosa is a modern-day female icon of cinema. How often do we see that?

This. This. This! I haven't seen a female action icon like Furiosa since Ripley. Even though Furiosa is an action female, Charlize nailed the dramatic acting. Sounds cliche but she moved me to tears.

It's definitely not the kind of movie that's going to appeal to everyone, just like the Mad Max series in general.

I'm not sure if I'd say it's one of the top films of the year. Action films, no doubt, but overall, I'm not certain.

In my top 10 for sure. I only need to see The H8ful 8 and The Revenant

Who puts a limit on a poll like this? Anyways, it's a 7.5, but I guess I'll be generous and give it an 8. Best Mad Max movie I've seen, but felt it was way overhyped.

Also, feminist action movie of the ages? What about Resident Evil series and Underworld and yea...?

An action movie isn't necessarily feminist just because of female leads. Fury Road is directly feminist in several of its thematic points and actually in its characterization of Max himself.

I'd have to agree. The action and cinematography was top notch, but I didn't really feel all that connected to these characters. For example, during the scene when Furiosa drops to her knees in agony after learning her home is gone, I wasn't thinking "Poor Furiosa", I was thinking, "My God, that is a beautiful looking shot."

Wholly disagree. Female empowerment? Sure. But feminist? It stood for a political and social movement? People just want to lump things in.

Like Batman doesn't kill. What, now it's a Christian movie because "thou shalt not kill"? People would be reaching.

It's like SJWs applauding The Force Awakens. It wasn't for them. It was because Ridley and Boyega are good actors and deservedly got the part.

Just no. Not a feminist movie. It fit that test, or whatever. No male love interest, no this or that. Forget the feminist movie test, but whatever. Feminism, a political and social movement, can't claim a piece of art was made for them because they liked it. That's silly. It's fine that they liked it, and enjoyed the female empowerment, but it wasn't propaganda, like Maleficent. So embarrassed I brought my gf to that movie. She goofed on me about it. Guh. It was so cringey and blunt, that one.
