That guitar dude had some good tunes!

Yes that ending is one of the best endings to a movie that I have seen in quite a while I mean and it sets up the Mad Max sequel perfectly too since they said that they were announcing a sequel

This movie is so great. It's just as good on repeat viewings. It was the one movie that came out this year that I absolutely HAD to buy.

If anyone could replace Mel Gibson as Mad Max then it is definitely Tom Hardy I mean Hardy after watching Fury Road over and over again George Miller could not have casted anyone better to be the new Max Rockatansky

Agreed. I loved that Hardy allowed his Max to truly be "mad" to the point where he was suffering from severe PTSD and mild schizophrenia. He's still an absolute badass, but I loved that they allowed him to be more vulnerable too. They NEED to make sequels because I want more Hardy Max.

What kinda villain does this sort of series lend itself to? I'm new to this and don't know much aside from biker gang in the first one, Humungous in the second and then Immortan Joe here.

Picked up my bluray copy last weekend and watched it Friday night. It's such a great movie.

Not sure what ya mean Vic?

Though hmm... Toecutter and his gang were just sort of nihilists/hedonists that were the product of a world that was in decline and were just out for their own fulfillment and pleasure and found that even in the deaths of innocents. Lord Humungous seemed like a Warlord type, though their was a bit of Messianic fervor. He and his "Dogs" are the reavers of civilization, where the people living in the gas camp are the representatives of collective civilization. Aunty in Thunderdome seems to be the face of the dark side of civilization. The bloody mess of politics and commerce that inevitably arise. Immortan seems to be the various types of "kings" who think that they rule through divine right at it were. That would be how I would describe them various opponents of Max through the films.

Miller once wanted Heath Ledger.

Yeah, shame about Ledger. He would have made a great Max too.

Or Chris Hemsworth if he weren't cast as Thor then he would have been a perfect Max but I am happy that Tom Hardy is Max even though if Heath Ledger had he lived he would have been perfect too as Max

George Miller's interview with Robert Rodriguez for The Directors Chair was an interesting watch.

Miller still cringes at the terrible American dubbed version of Mad Max.

Miller thought the shots where to static on Mad Max so used shaky cam on Road Warrior

Miller had a chaotic nightmare experience working with WB, Jon Peters and Peter Guber on The Witches Of Eastwick. Jack Nicholson talked him out of quitting the movie twice and he almost lost his enthusiasm for movie making after the experience

If Fury Road came out like a decade ago in 2005 then either Russell Crowe, Eric Bana or Hugh Jackman would have been casted as Max guaranteed but you know before Hardy got the role they actually were considering Sam Worthington for the role of Max Rockatansky

Jon Peters is so weird, man. He has been in 500 street fights according to him. Lawd.

Jon Peters is like if Donald Trump was a movie producer.

Well, I'll be damned. So I bought this movie on blu ray and finally got to watch it for the second time since I initially watched it in theater. Now upon my initial theatrical viewing I wasn't crazy about this movie. I came out with a very mixed 'meh' feeling. I think my expectations were just so freaking elevated from all the unanimous praise and the 98% on RT. I left the theater thinking I had maybe not understood what I saw. Lo and behold after my second viewing I enjoyed the movie much, much more. I think I just had a very jarring initial viewing and went in with inflated expectations. I think this is one of those films you definitely have to watch several times to absorb and enjoy.

Also, what may have also helped was in between my initial viewing in May and now I have been incessantly listening to Junkie XL's soundtrack which I think is PHENOMENAL. I think having the soundtrack imprinted in my brain also elevated my second viewing experience.

All in all, definitely glad I gave this movie a second chance and glad I own it.

Who's seen the actual frames from the B and W version floating around on Twitter? It looks incredible.
