Here's my question... When didn't SFX of the past have a certain look, yes even "practical" SFX, that it could be argued brought attention to themselves? Is this really something that is only noticeable with modern CGI? And what of all the times that you DON'T notice CGI? The many instances that it's used and you weren't even aware, and it was done so because, frankly, using CGI is actually more practical in the end for film makers than... Well practical effects that so many have such warm feelings over?

My problem with this debate is that one side seems to be making an argument, or it seems to me anyway, that practical effects are always the superior choice but in context they would actually drive up costs, are more of a pain to use and would STILL look like SFX especially without CGI to cover up things like wires ect.

The fact practical effects are so expensive forced film makers to use them sparingly. Now CGI is used slap dash often used when in camera solutions could be utilized if the film makers used some imagination and creativity.

I used to buy Cinefex but no longer bother as it is pretty much filled with CG simulations. So boring.

Here's an interesting analysis that posits the themes of the movie as having little to do with femininity and masculinity and rather focuses on individuality and devotion and function within society.

The writer posits that the movie uses hair as a symbol and measure of the former and metal as a shorthand for the latter.

The writer goes a bit far in exaggerating and bending a few details to fit the film to this schema but overall its a good take on the film.

Awesome. That a public appearance or like rehearsal for the film?

^ Exactly. Its been baffling seeing every filmsite pass that "Black and Chrome" wordpress page around.

Some fans might have good intensions, but this type of thing still bothers me. Eh, I will just turn the entire film black n white, that will help Mista' Miller out. Lawd.

Its not even the guy who made the page that bothers me. Its sites like io9 running headlines like "George Miller's Original Vision for Fury Road is now Online!"

I don't use digital copies so here for whoever gets it first: 3X4H9X79VK6X

"This Code Is Not Valid In Your Territory."

Tartar sauce. :argh:

Just saw the movie.
I like it, not as much as most folks talking praise about it on the internet.
8.5/10 on the joy level.

Immortan's death is one of my favorite moments.
And this movie has some real nice soundtrack.

Is Mad Max true 3D or post converted?

Post converted. At one time Miller was going to shoot using custom 3D cameras. They were already built, tested and everything, but he decided to shoot 2D because it gave him more shooting options and a greater number of cameras. Potential damage to even one 3D camera on set would have caused problems.

Finally came out here in the UK, this movie is just an action movie masterpiece, it's just so good, and the score is amazing. I would be excited by Miller doing MOS 2, but at this point I want him to close out his new Mad Max trilogy as FR is just too awesome.

Yep, that's the UK and DVD dates for you, though we got AOU sooner so I guess it depends on the studio.

Still THE movie of 2015 by a longshot.

I think Kingsman and the latest Mission: Impossible give it a run for its money but yeah its still the best so far for me. My only complaint was aa lack of the famous Max interceptor which only lasted the first 5 mins. Didn't like the version used by the bad guys later on, but that is literally a nitpick.

What's odd is that it is actually dispatched really, really quickly in the Road Warrior as well.
