That's a misunderstanding of what it means for the film to be made in black and white. Without color, Miller had to alter the images in different ways. Contrast is shown in black and white different than in color. Just desaturating color images is not the same.

Instead, just rent it from Amazon video for 3 bucks.

I prefer color movies myself. Rarely does a movie seem to benefit being restricted to black and white or some other monochrome simplification.

Black and white photography in general provides a different effect for images. The contrast is what makes it. I myself love pure whites and especially blacks in photography. Of course, it has to be used correctly for that great effect.

He didn't really succeed, though. I still feel like a lot of detail was lost and the movie actually becomes harder to follow.
