"Make America Great Again"the F'dup Chapters in American History (The Trump Years) - Part 5

This is true, but Dems need to clearly articulate this argument in their dissent! Right now, they are, for some reason, embarrassed of that argument, so they're trying to defeat Gorsuch on his credentials... or past decisions... or some vague litmus test.. or whatever! As you say though, Gorsuch isn't the point. The point is that the seat is stolen. STOLEN, STOLEN, STOLEN! There's only one person who should be considered at this point, and that's Garland. This should have been the biggest voting issue of the election, but Dems, as usual, couldn't be bothered to run with a winning argument.

Dems do this all the time, and they should take a page from Republicans on this one. Republican reps are happy to grab the talking points of their constituents.. but Democrats feel like they need to be so austere. As such, they farm out the dirty work to their liberal base... while they act like the reasonable middle ground to journalists. It's time to grow a pair guys! If you're uncomfortable sticking up for political fairness, then you probably don't have a right to call yourself a representative of the people.

Yep. You're so right. Gorsuch is very likely just a corporate puppet judge but even if he isn't, that doesn't matter. McConnell did something unprecedented (or unpresidented, as Trump would spell it) by denying a sitting president (also, a black, Democratic president but I'm sure that was just a coincidence!) the ability to do his job. He said he was doing it so that "the American people have a voice in this momentous decision."

That's rich, Turtle Boy. The American people, huh? So the majority of voting Americans who put President Obama in the Oval Office TWICE don't count, but a president who LOST the popular vote by 3 million gets to appoint a justice? I don't think so.

I also love how Turtle Boy said he was "invoking the Biden rule" which has been the talking point that Trump supporters/surrogates/apologists have been spouting on CNN and other places for the past week. As pointed out here, Biden said this when there was no vacancy to fill and no nominee to consider. And he didn't suggest that the next president should be the one to appoint the justice, only that if a spot were to open up, the vote should be after the election. And it was simply a plea by Biden at the time to then-President George H.W. Bush, not a hard-line stance by the Senate majority leader. Biden was the Chairman of the Judiciary Committee, but not as powerful or as influential a figure as McConnell.

But of course, it was BIDEN that said it so of course, Turtle Boy used that as his defense. I can just imagine how much he must have been salivating over that one.

dems should repay gop by fillerbisting Gorsuch.

Obama elected by 53% of vote in 2008 and 51% in 2012 couldn't get his pick to a hearing but trump elected with 46% of vote does?

They should dare Mcconnel to use nuclear opotion.GOP isn't going to control everything forever so it can come back and haunt them if they use it.

As I've said it before, I'll say it again: filibustering Gorsuch as revenge is a bad move. What the GOP did was wrong. They stole a Supreme Court seat. That being said, for the sake of country and the legitimacy of the institution (and I'm not sure non-lawyers can understand just how important that is), Democrats have to let this go. Especially since the REpublicans hold all the cards and will destroy the filibuster (which does serve a valuable purpose to stop truly dangerous appointees) if Democrats block him.

Which is the equivalent of a Bull running into a China shop, breaking all the inventory, and then saying, "hey, I broke everything, but it'd be really irresponsible of you not to clean up after me."

Republicans broke the rules. Republicans are the ones who jeopardized the legitimacy of the Supreme Court as an institution. And now, they're holding it hostage, and saying... "You don't want to make things worse, do you?"

I mean... I get it... we have the opportunity to be the adults in the room. It'd be reckless to let the Supreme Court go with an unfilled seat. It's just like... how much longer can we clean up their mess? At what point, do we need to enforce consequences on the off chance that they might grow up one day and actually want to govern a long with us?

Republicans just elected a guy with no experience, specifically because he promised to blow up the system. And yet, we are the irresponsible ones for essentially saying the same thing? Isn't there any logic in saying, "this system has now been so broken, that we have to burn the village in order to save it." I know that's extreme, but what other choices do we have? Should we just keep sacrificing our agenda for the greater good, while the other side is more than willing to do the opposite?

I feel that not making a big stink about Gorsuch is as bad as raising too much of a stink. This is a stolen seat. It delegitimizes the court, the constitution, etc if they give up on Merrick Garland.

If this was just any old seat, I'd agree with Matt. But this is a lifetime position, being selected by a Pres with only 46% of the votes, and under investigation for collusion with Russia. Doesn't sit right if we give Gorsuch a pass.

It is a bad move, long term, and it's not in the best interest of the country, to do this with Gorsuch. But, the Republicans have been playing the crazy card for so long without paying the consequences. Hell, they've been rewarded for their behavior.

It's really hard to argue with the strategy considering it's worked out beautifully for the other side. So, I fully understand it. Hell, I'd probably be doing it too. One side can't keep bending over a table hoping it all works out for the greater good everytime, while the other runs around like a bull in a china shop.

Throw ontop of that the whiff of treason, and the undergoing investigations...and that the seat was stolen. I don't know, I think the Democrats have better arguments than the Republicans did. I know that doesn't ultimately matter, but considering the other side got away with it...

So, can everyone agree that Nunes is full of ****? I mean, everyone can admit that right?

He keeps changing his story. I've literally heard him say a handful of different things when trying to explain why he went to the White House and briefed Trump, then gave the press briefing, etc. And now we find out he got his intel at the White House.

He went to the White House the day before. Got onto a computer on the White House's secure network, to look at the "classified" intelligence. But, he never spoke to any White House aides? He didn't interact with any White House officials? How'd he get in? How'd he get onto a computer in the White House?

So, he sneaks into the White House like he's Solid Snake? Or he deals with a whistleblower LITERALLY in the White House without anyone in the White House knowing?

None of what Nunes makes any sense. None of it.

God, imagine if they were competent.

Kushner's apparently wiped his twitter clean.... deleted all his tweets. The timing of this cannot be a co-incidence....

If rumors of data purges are true, I'd find that highly troubling. From an investigative standpoint, there'd almost be no excuse for something like that. When you're running for president of the United States, saying, "oh I didn't know I wasn't supposed to delete anything" is just not a believable excuse.

Schiff calls on Nunes to recuse himself.

Apparently Kushner never made many twitter tweets apparently. Most of his followers were also likely bots.

I have to think somebody somewhere has a record of all of them

All that being said their was an article put out yesterday about a old tweet of Ivankas., might just be as simple as that.

http://www.vox.com/identities/2017/3/26/15052586/ivanka-trump-job-title

Ivanka Trump once organized a campaign encouraging women to share their job titles

And now she should take her own advice.

I know with Trump, deleting or editing his tweets is a crime because, as President, they are considered public record. I wonder if the same applies to Kushner?

Does Kushner have an official position?

And after the whole kerfuffle regarding Hillary's missing E-mails, none of them in the WH now have a leg to stand on if/when it's revealed they've deleted everything..

If Flynn has a sudden heart attack brought on by a few bullets into his chest or trips out a window of a high building.... then you know that he has/had the goods to take Trump down.

I thought all the Russians who died mysterious recently is a confirmation that Putin has been killing all the people who have knowledge of the connection between him and Trump. Flynn will probably get assassinated if he is willing to testify against his former boss.

Like Tillerson having a ton of e-mails under an alias just mysteriously disappear. Before they were to be looked at by a court.

Honestly, if Flynn was in serious danger for his life, that means the conspiracy is much, much deeper than we suspect. Putin is pretty blatant. But not that blatant. That said, who knows how much control he has on the Russian Mob, who is likely a player as well.

And Nunes responds unsurprisingly responds, refusing to recusal himself.

So there are reports coming in this morning that Trump has begun reaching out to Democrats. Democrats need to take a play from Trump's Book and be very public about this. They should PUBLICLY acknowledge his request and say that they will agree to work with him only if he offers a public apology to President Obama and an admission that he was wrong (which kills his credibility) and orders the DOJ to appoint a special prosecutor regarding Russia's involvement in the election since Nunes has shown himself to be incapable of impartiality. He will refuse of course, but it boxes him in even further. Especially since his administration is now trying to paint a picture of bipartisanship. If he isn't even willing to admit he is wrong and apologize for an obvious lie, how interested can he really be in bipartisan collaboration? It further exposes the man behind the curtain, so to speak.

This would be so great to see. Too bad the Dems are too stupid to make such a good move. They'll suck up behind the scenes in the hopes of getting a bone or tow thrown there way.

Haha these people are so stupid. Off the top of my head I can think of at least 3 different ways for folks to find these tweets with almost no effort. It's the f***ing internet, once you post it, it's here forever. Ask Barbara Streisand. :hehe:

Cheeto knows he can't actually govern so he's back to tweeting about Hillary again and how they should investigate her Russian ties.

It's pathetic he still thinks he's running for President instead of actually trying to be one.

i had to look at his twitter. he really is still going on about her. *does* he think he's somehow still 'running' against both her and obama? maybe it's what bannon tells him to keep trumps juices flowing and mind occupied while everyone else goes about doing their best to torpedo the gov't

I know that everyone is talking about how his approval rating is down to 36% - which is about the worst ever for anyone this early in their term - but I am amazed that it's still in the two digits. I wonder how low it can go.
