Trailer looks really good. Is she going to turn into the dragon in this?

fanastic teaser. a teaser needs to have a build up. amazing.

Wow. That looks awesome and to top if off - I didn't even know Paul Dini was the writer of this movie! Pretty excited!

I've thought this would be a good angle for this as well since Disney villains have been so popular.

In addition to their Cruella De Ville that was already announced, movies about Ursula, Jafar, Hook, or Dr. Facilier could definitely work as movies.
You forgot the 2 top Disney villains (in least for me, i would put them along with Maleficent as the top 3 Disney animated villains)

About Hook, there was a Steven Spielberg with that title already, dealing with Captain Hook getting revenge on an old Peter Pan's family

so wait.....Maleficent is "good" in this movie??

and who's the raven??

I think it's safer to say that Meleficent is the protagonist in this movie every thing will be told from her point of view perhaps offering a sympathetic look at her past and how she turns evil.

And I would love to see an Ursula movie in CGI.

Edit: I wish that Disney had done Snow White and the Huntsman just for a potential crossover with Angie as Mel and Theron as The Queen.

Am I the only one who thinks Jolie is channeling Eleanor Audley's vocal performances as Maleficent? She looks the part too.

Is this suppose to be a prequel to Sleeping Beauty, or is it more of a remake focused on Maleficent? I thought it was a prequel, but there were a lot of images from the main Sleeping Beauty story in the teaser, I thought.

It's a sort of remake, here's the oficial synopsis:

"Maleficent is the untold story of Disney's most iconic villain from the 1959 classic Sleeping Beauty. A beautiful, pure-hearted young woman, Maleficent has an idyllic life growing up in a peaceable forest kingdom, until one day when an invading army threatens the harmony of the land. Maleficent rises to be the land's fiercest protector, but she ultimately suffers a ruthless betrayal - an act that begins to turn her pure heart to stone. Bent on revenge, Maleficent faces an epic battle with the invading king's successor and, as a result, places a curse upon his newborn infant Aurora. As the child grows, Maleficent realizes that Aurora holds the key to peace in the kingdom - and perhaps to Maleficent's true happiness as well."[

It's a mix of both. It starts out with Maleficent's backstory then leads into the traditional Sleeping Beauty story.

This reminds me so much of Oz The Great and Powerful.

I was thinking the same thing at first, but something about this just seems that it's in a different league, but I could be wrong.

OTGAP wasn't a bad movie so if Maleficent is even in the same league it'll be fine.

I don't think she's "good," I think it's just developing her character more than just someone who is pissed off they didn't get invited to a baby shower.

I assume the raven is her pet raven, Diablo, which was in Sleeping Beauty.

I don't think Oz was bad at all, it was quite enjoyable but it wasn't near as good as it could've been that's for sure, but that's a different discussion altogether. One thing in comparison is that Jolie looks like she will make a great villain/dark type character where in respect to Oz, that's the exact opposite.

thanks.

very interesting synopsis.

based on that, it does sound like she won't be purely evil. more "complicated" in her motives with the possible chance of redemption in the end........

Goodness, yes. Whose idea was it to cast Mila Kunis as the Wicked Witch of the West? She sounded no meaner than your average spoiled teenager after her transformation.

Love the Maleficent dialogue and the way her scenes were shot. It almost felt like an old school horror movie.

it looks like the raven will be called Diaval, and he's Maleficent's right hand man who can transform into human form.

I hope he won't be portrayed as purely evil, either. just devoted/loyal to his master and her cause.

The only weak part of the trailer would have to be Elle Fanning. That accent....and I probably would've chosen another bit older actress for the role but I hope she proves me wrong.

I agree with Elle Fanning. She's the only thing so far that I haven't agreed with.

The teaser is amazing though.

Kunis was fine when she was still good, but once she was turned evil, I don't know what happened. I usually enjoy her work, but that was just a misstep. The rest of the movie was quite good, ESPECIALLY the China Doll. The teaser looks really good. Jolie kind of looks like Maleficent in real life, so I can't wait to see her in this movie.

I really hope they find a way to do a Little Mermaid movie in the next few years since Ursula has an interesting backstory that deserves to be explored.
