I hope the Raven is just loyal to his mistress, and does her bidding, but not evil himself.

it would be a refreshing change since ravens are usually portrayed as bad omens.

especially since they are making Maleficent herself more complicated than "evil."

Now that is a an awesome trailer for Maleficent.

I am still not sure if this is the movie Maleficent deserves to be, but the trailer at least promises it. By that I mean her Maleficent is evil. I get that she will have justification and it will be a sympathetic portrayal, but my main worry is that it will somehow become about Maleficent befriending and defending Aurora. As long as Maleficent stays a villain, I am fine.

And I never thought I'd see the day when Lana Del Rey covered Tchaikovsky...much less that I'd like it.

I am now very intrigued.

I'm actually getting hints of the live action Grinch with this. Not as goofy as that flick, but basically showing the lead-up to how she became how she is, with maybe the last half hour of the flick being a live action version of the Sleeping Beauty cartoon, ending with Prince Phillip killing her.

I can't get over just how perfect Jolie is for this part, both physically and personality-wise. She's incredibly creepy in this trailer, and the costume/makeup people did a fantastic job of making her LOOK menacing. Oh and her voice/smile/chuckle is perfect to. And of course Lana Del Rey's rendition of "Once Upon a Dream" is suitably spooky.

Fantastic trailer. I do like how, more than this will serve as a "prequel" or "different" version of events, it appears this will sort of run concurrently with the story of Sleeping Beauty, but just focus on Maleficent and her motivations.

Maleficent just came through the BBFC website as being classified so looks like we could be getting another trailer soon.

Yeah, the movie is finished. The MPAA gave it a PG rating for "sequences of fantasy action and violence, including frightening images."

Guess Disney wanted it done by the original release date (March 14) so they can have a finished film to promote in the months ahead.

May 30, 2014.

It was originally supposed to debut next month, before Disney moved it to July 2nd. Then when Pixar couldn't agree on the creative direction for "The Good Dinosaur", they moved Maleficent to that spot.

I like how studios are finishing more movies now ahead of schedule, instead of like a week before release.
