Will The Man of Steel have a presence in Con 2012??

I say yay.

Well mos would have to, by the time comic con comes around next year mos will be out already. So I see it as a no brainer

Then again, didn't Nolan's TDK franchise skip out of Comic Con?? Did Zack Snyder have a panel for 300 or Sucker Punch? I think he might be more Con friendly than Nolan.

I hope to see some Man of Steel stuff at ComicCon

I'm not holding my breath for a Comicon appearance. WB movies have been scarce at Comicon for a few years. Both TDK and TDKR didn't have a presence while the Marvel properties have a pretty decent showing. I hope I'm wrong but I won't get my hopes up.

GL had a huge presence a couple years ago...

I'd be shocked if they didn't do something big at comic con...

I wouldn't be. Green Lantern was a huge failure. Taking it to Comic-Con didn't do them any favors. The Nolan Bat-films have made tons and you have never seen them have a Comic-Con event. Warner Bros has probably realized that pandering to fans at the conventions doesn't improve the box office numbers. The people there are probably going to go see the film anyways. Moreover, as with Green Lantern, there is no guarantee of positive word of mouth emanating from it.

The most popular and important comic book character of all time should be at COMIC-Con. Right? :yay:

Should? Probably. Will? No clue.

I really hope we do but I'm not holding my breath either way around June/July we're gonna see the trailer so hey ho.

What about the New York Comic Con? That is much later in the year...

Has Snyder took his other movies to Comic Con? I thought for sure Watchmen was there.

At the very least I could see a new image or a poster debuting there.

I remember reading an article about the Watchmen cast and Snyder going to Comic Con. I wouldn't put it past Snyder to do a panel with Cavill, Adams, and Shannon there. If they don't have a panel, I wouldn't be surprised if WB had a teaser poster there.

when is ComicCon, sorry for the blasphemy

Snyder has had everything of his there starting with 300. It's one of the shining examples where a genre film made its splash at the Con and then went on to become a huge success. Thing is though Man of Steel doesn't "need" to be there since that Comic Con crowd is:

1) easy lays
2) already going to see it regardless
3) isn't in the "Do or die" approval status that the general movie-going public is.

But it will be.

On the other hand, Star Trek never showed up back in '08 and, at the time, I balked. In retrospect, Abrams was on to something. He wanted his big splash to be in front of something regular people would see (i.e. the trailer attached to Quantum of Solace) and it worked. I'd be surprised if the Trek sequel showed up.

What I would expect is pictures, possibly even a cover story, on Entertainment Weekly for its annual Comic Con issue.

I guess much will depend on if WB feel it can make any difference; given the divide in fan opinion over SR it might not be a bad idea to touch base with the core fandom.

agreed...I think that after the "disaster" most people think Superman Returns was they should have a showing at ComicCon to let people know this is a different type of Superman movie. Maybe do what some of the other films in the past have done and show a short scene from the movie that will let people know this is unlike any Superman movie before it, yet the scene shouldn't give anything too major away. I do think that after Superman Returns failed to do what they had hoped it would going to ComicCon would be a wise choice...

Being at comic con won't hurt or help it's box office numbers. I'd be fine with it being there because that would mean I'd get to see new things about it.

I've made no bones about me kinda hating Comic Con because the nerds pumped up every movie that got a good reception there and proclaimed that that meant that the movie was going to be a hit. When the movies flopped all I'd hear was whining.

Superman Returns wasn't a disaster it did pretty well at the box office and on numerous occasions was given the chance for a sequel. The problem with Superman Returns is like I always said was the same with Smallville it left the fan base split.

Oh I don't think it was a disaster, note the quotation marks. I enjoy the movie just as much today as I did when I saw it in theaters. I was meaning that most other people thought the film was a disaster...

Thats exactly how I feel its one of those films that at the time I think I got caught up in the hype of it all but I still like it just not as much as I once did.

That would be awesome and I think you're right that it'l probably happen

I think if you had moved Superman Returns to the spring or winter of that year or released it anywhere from 2weeks to a month before POTC the box office would have been different. and tilted much better in its favor. It's impressive when a superhero movie with no action makes over $400 million in the box office. They should have given us this trailer as well.
