SHH said:
Warner Bros. Pictures announced that Zack Snyder's Superman movie Man of Steel will be released in theaters on June 14, 2013 and not in December of 2012 as was previously believed.

No other films have been scheduled for that date yet.

Written by David Goyer and Jonathan Nolan, the anticipated film stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Kevin Costner, Michael Shannon, Antje Traue, Russell Crowe, Julia Ormond, Christopher Meloni and Harry Lennix.

edit: despite having to wait longer, this is probably for the best. more time for post-production/reshoots/etc...it can only mean a better quality product once it hits theaters. i was already sort of afraid they were rushing this into theaters, now they fear is (almost) gone.

Sounds good to me, That gives breathing room for both MOS and The Hobbit.

I see no problem with moving it back....makes sure nothing gets rushed.

I thought they had to get the film out by 2012? Or am I completely wrong about that? Oh well, I was really hoping to see Superman & Batman in the same year. Now I gotta wait even longer. :csad: I guess as long as the movie turns out amazing, I won't be complaining. :D Which I have a feeling it will.

but i wanted to see this movie before the world goes down the crapper...

This is a bit saddening, but this means more development time, which is good.

Moving it back is good in my opinion, yes I have to wait longer but its better than it been released in a busy Christmas period and not doing aswell at the box office as it could and lets face it box office is hugely important to the future of this franchise and I want sequels.

Another great reason and if I remember correctly Superman Returns was rushed and look how that turned out.

like GL they found a way to not realese a comicbook movie in winter.

guys you are aware that if they film this movie in 2011 that they will not spend on the CGI until summer 2013 right? Star Trek and Prince of Persia were finished way before the premiere. the studio will not pay extra money so that the artist can twek shots and surf the internet and watch youtube videos. this movie will have the same post production time like a normal blockbuster movie.

I'm honestly surprised they even had a winter release date initially. Superman is a summer blockbuster franchise if ever there was one.

I mentioned that Superman might be the one to move awhile back in The Hobbit thread.

They only need to be in production by the end of this year to prevent the lawsuit. They can release the film whenever they choose.

This move is definitely for the best, though. Going up against The Hobbit would have been suicide.

atleast we won't have to worry about Superman being eclipsed by The Hobbit next year

I know that everyone else is being all positive... but is no one else gonna admit their gutted they have to wait longer?

Seriously? We're all just fine with it? Because we're not all so insanely impatiently tearing at our hair waiting for it that we keep jumping down each others throats every time the suit is mentioned, desperately clawing at rumours, constantly complaining when nothing has been anounced for longer than a week...

Is NO ONE else going to admit this news has made the want to cry in utter desperation?

No?

Okay, just me then :p

Is there any known competition for June of 2013? Maybe Superman will be better off in that month.

From The Playlist:
Something had to give, and right in the middle of Comic-Con no less! Warner Bros. has officially moved the Christopher Nolan-produced, Zack Snyder produced, Superman movie "Man of Steel" from December 2012 to June, 14, 2013. December 2012 is already stacked: Fox’s “Life Of Pi,” Quentin Tarantino‘s "Django Unchained," Disney‘s "Lone Ranger" and perhaps more importantly, a competing WB film, Peter Jackson‘s "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey."

Superman won't let the end of the world happen before we see his film, guys. :o

Ugh, I am going to assault someone as a result of this news. I seriously have to wait another 6 months. This just ruined my day.

Is Jonathan Nolan officially credited now, or did SHH make a mistake?

It'll compete with Thor now. Still, looking at December 2012 line up, this makes sense.

Big whoop...prior to this news, you already would've had to wait a YEAR AND A HALF.

If it was supposed to come out this year then I can understand your frustration but there's still a ridiculous amount of time of waiting around.

I mean, c'mon, they haven't even started filming yet.

You know, they could at least make it up to us by showing us the suit... :(

Well, mid-July has been a sweet spot for WB in recent years:

Order of the Phoenix, 2007
Dark Knight, 2008
Half-Blood Prince, 2009
Inception, 2010
Deathly Hallows Part 2, 2011
Dark Knight Rises, 2012

All of them made bank.

June's not been that kind to them, except for Batman Begins.

They'll move it to July. Bank on it...

Well 10 mins ago, Superman was a movie that was coming out next year.

Now it's a movie that's coming out in 2 years...

Makes a big difference to me :(

I agree with hopefulsuicide; this ****ing sucks.

I don't give a **** about The Hobbit or the ****ing Lone Ranger. And explain to me how a movie which starts production in August 2011 is going to be "rushed" to get the finished product out in December 2012? That's over a ****ing year!!!

This also means we won't likely see the suit this weekend, as many of us had hoped.

**** the WB!
