As I have stated countless times it just doesnt make sense to bring back Routh, his Superman died with Returns.

^^^If you feel that way, you don't need to be posting in this thread.

Just saw him in an advance screening of Scott Pilgrim last night. He was all kinds of awesome.

Nice interview. This was my fave part,

O'Malley is impressed with Wright's sense for casting. "I think that's one of Edgar’s gifts, one of his many gifts. He just has this eye for it. When he said that he wanted Chris Evans and Brandon Routh for the movie, I was like, 'That’s not going to happen.' And then it totally happened. It was dream casting all around," he said.
"I remember when Brandon Routh walked in for a casting meeting and I was sitting there with Edgar," added Bacall. "He walked in and he was standing there in front of us, and I kind of looked at Edgar, and I wanted to say it but I didn't, but in my mind I said it. And what I said was, 'Holy ****, it's Superman!'"

Yep, that's the consensus so far. I can't wait to see it! :yay:

Are YOU encouraged? I know I am. I mean, I can't really help myself. There are big publications and websites entering into this debate...and many are saying "why replace Superman for the next Superman movie?"

I don't know what to say about that.. I'm just really happy to see all the support and love to Brandon. Hopefully WB and Nolan will take notice and realize that Brandon IS the best Superman possible they could find in this generation.

ive always been a Routh supporter from the beginning, and i cried out all that i had to, to get over the fact that they were rebooting this new supes movie. Now you guys are bringing me to those days..

Aww, I know exactly how you feel. *hugs you* :yay:

It's really cool to see the support Routh is getting from the fans and that it's getting picked up by media outlets, even if it is pointless.

Funny to see many publications gearing up to make WB give Routh back his job when we have been doing this for years, for me, he is still Superman, but I think WB will go with another actor personally.

In that interview he sort of seemed resigned to fact he wont be playing him again himself, its sad, I would have loved him to be Supes again.

i know you do.....:csad:

i have a feeling its all gonna end up being like how it was when everyone wanted Eric Bana to return as the hulk again.....and we see how that ended up...:awesome:

If it's not actually a reboot, which I've heard, then there's no reason at all why Routh can't get it. I'm a Hamm man, but I'd be cool with Routh again.

And Zooey would be great :awesome:

Those opinion peices don't mean anything really. And no I'm not trying to burst anyone's bubble I'm just saying that WB will make the choice and right now, I don't see them bringing him back.

If you bring him back for a sort of reboot, why not bring the rest of the cast back?

It sure seems to be picking up steam on the internet. I wonder if there is anything to it? Maybe he is not cast but Nolan will entertain the idea.

Collider interviews Brandon Routh. Lots of Superman discussion here.

The subject of what a Bryan Singer Superman 2 might have been like and Routh joked that it would have delved deep into politics and terrorism. He then got serious when he said “I have my own theories on that that one day, whenever a new movie comes out, maybe I’ll talk about.”
I then asked Routh if he felt any jealous of resentment to the fact that his film, Superman Returns, could have been the start of a huge DC saga culminating with a Justice League movie but now, Marvel got their first with The Avengers. Here’s his response in full:

“I would have liked DC to have had that because I think that would have issued forth a second movie more swiftly, if there had been a different plan in place with all of the entities that DC has. It’s a great company and the people involved are really great and I want them to have the best and bring their characters to light in a better way. I know they’ve been meeting the last couple years and finding a game plan that works for them so I trust they will have success with that but it’s one of those things. It’s still hard for me to envision an Avengers movie just because how do you put all of those fantastical characters together? I mean apart they work because they have their own separate universe but creating a universe they all exist in is something that CAN be done but it’s hard for me to imagine and I look forward to seeing it both with them and the DC universe because there’s a place for both of them. DC vs Marvel someday if they can figure how to share the profits.”

I was thinking of why Welling would be a more viable choice than Routh.Consider that Routh may play a very good Superman and a good bumbling Clark Kent. However he may not play a good post Reeve (ala Cain and Welling) version of Clark. It could be with the new film approach, they want someone that can come off more confident as Clark.Remember Routh tested for Smallville right?
It seems odd if he looks as close to Superman as he does, that he would not of been cast for a tv show (then get cast in an actual movie of Superman!). Maybe the reason is, he can't play Clark as the "popular guy in school" and even though he can play a good confident Superman, he can't do the same with Clark.Welling? He is playing Clark as confident, and while he has not played Superman yet, you get an idea in heroic moments of the show what it might look like. It may be more in line with what Nolan wants to do.
I am not saying it makes Welling a front runner, cause I'm sure there are other actors who can look and sound the part more. If you look between Welling and Routh though, that could be a reason Welling would lean more towards being the favorite.Just some thoughts.

Routh is out according to Moviehole.net exclusive story.
Also, it is a TV star that they're looking at for the lead - but, despite what that article says, I don't believe anyone has actually tested." (He/She has heard nothing of Zachary Levi being considered).
