I'd want Kate Mara. She needs to get in something I actually want to see... aside from her 15 seconds in IM2.

There should be no Lana.

It's not an origins.

We're in Metropolis with an established Supes.

Kate Mara would make a great Lana Lang.

The best part about Superman III was the Clark/Lana/Superman stuff...she can be used without it being an origin story.

It's gritty and real-world. Grounded in a more realism-driven style.

Very similar to how Nolan portrays his visuals.

:dry::dry::dry:

There is nothing 'real world' about a man in tight blue spandex floating in the sky with a large red cape billowing behind him with his eyes blazing red.

Some of you people...:doh:

Superman III was borderline unwatchable.

I'm skeptical Lois' role will even be that big in Nolan's upcoming film, given the basis on the Kryptonian mythology.

Lana would just be a complete waste of time.

I'm not stating that the character of Superman is real... genius

Just that the costume is artistically portrayed in a grittier more realism-driven style that Lee seems to do for all his work.

His Joker and Two-face are very close to Nolan's representation of them as well.

Since when did this become a Lana Lang casting thread? I thought this was to pressure DC into getting Routh back.

The more I see of Routh the more I think he should get a second chance as Superman.
A"FREAKING"GREED! That pose just screams Superman. Is WB afraid that the public will automatically think that this will be a reboot to SR or something? I just don't get it. He is just so perfect for the role, and plus he has the experience and LOVES the character. So you know that he would do the character justice. I don't care what anyone says, Routh IS the definitive Superman for this generation, just as Reeve was for that generation.

OMG O'RLY!?:dry::dry::dry:

The costume is just like it always is, it's skin tight and blue, very large S on the chest, the briefs & yellow belt are there, red cape, and red boots that arch by the shins. His draws Superman and Lex Luthor almost exactly as they are usually portrayed. Only difference is that his Supes has a cape that drapes much more. It's not like his Joker which is very very different than the way Joker is usually portrayed.

Now explain to me how that suit is "gritty" and "realistic" and different from most interpretations. Try not to trip, I'm waiting.

More like Nolan's representation are close to Lee Bermejo's, who has been illustrating comics since before Nolan every directed a single film.

If you can't see the difference between standard Superman comic artwork, and the gritty tone of Lee's visual interpretation, nothing I can do for you.

I never said Nolan came first. I said they both visualize dark and gritty similarly. There's less of a cartoony quality to their work, with more focus placed on gritty and dark realism, which is actually great.

It's the equivalent of comparing Raimi's cartoony Spider-man to what we're promised to get in the reboot.

It is darker, yes, and I certainly grant you grittier, but certainly not more realistic.

In fact, Christopher Reeve and Brandon Routh both look far more like the first pictures you posted than the Bermejo's. Reeve's and Routh's costumes existed in the third dimension, they were 'real' costumes... not drawings. The way Bermejo draws is fluid and realistic, but the design of the costume is not anymore 'realistic' unless you are talking about creases in the costume, but that is not the design.

Gary Frank is an awesome artist. my drawing style was once (only once) compared to his and i was MORE than flattered, i was FLOORED!

anyway, i think the reason why Bermejo's style is referenced as being Nolan-ish (not just by MoT, but by others as well) is because 1) his style IS pretty dark and gritty, much like Nolan's and 2) Nolan used Bermejo's renditions (amongst other artists') of Joker and Two-Face as a basis for how he approached those characters in 'the Dark Knight'.

but alas, this is another conversation/discussion that is straying off topic. it's switched from Routh to Bermejo. let's try to get back on track shall we?
