I feel the same way you do. This whole reboot thing sucks if they don't use him.

The whole reboot thing sucks if they do use him! It defeats the whole idea of a reboot.

Questions for those who will only watch a new Superman movie if it has Routh in it.

Where you big Routh fans when it was announced that Singer was going to direct SR? Did you say, that unless Routh was Superman in the upcoming Superman movie you would not be watching it? Was it Routh or bust then? Did you know how great Routh was as Superman before he tested for Singer?

I'm guessing that most of you probably had no clue who Routh was before he tested for Singer. Yet now Routh is the only man in the world who can play Superman? How do you know there is not someone else that was in the same exact position as Routh was before SR, that can be just as good or *gasp* even better?! You guys really know there is no one else in the world that can perhaps be just as good or better than Routh. I find that pretty amazing if that's the case.

Why? Not saying the movie wont be good, just the actor who plys Superman wont be as good as Routh IMO.

Since SR, he has garnered a big fan-base, before SR he was unknown so of course people werent sure about his casting, but as Superman, Kal-El and Clark Kent, they will find no one better IMO.

Yep. Routh really grew on me I felt for him what I did for Reeve. Reeve was my Superman as a kid, Routh was my Superman as an adult.

You don't think that it is irrational to say that they won't find anyone as least as good? Based on what exactly? All they need to do is find a non short goodlooking guy who can act and has dark hair and blue eyes. They can fake both of those last two things. He hasn't proven that he good actor yet.

Exactly, Routh was unknown hence no one asked for him. Hell, it doesn't even matter if he was famous or not. Look at Ledger. The point is you had to wait to see his performance before judging anything. Who's to say we won't find another young actor that could absolutely nail this role?

Routh didn't even top Reeve in most people's eyes, so I think it's more than possible (even probable) to top him. He was fine for the role, but he didn't do exceptionally well. I know he wasn't given much material to work with, but great actors surpass that limitation.

Medicore acting in a medicore film, still kind of amazed by all this love.

Anyone know why we can have a Routh for a Superman reboot and not a Henry Cavill thread?

There is a Superman Casting Thread where everybody is putting up who they would want in the role of Superman.

You have a point. Since Routh is not Superman anymore this thread shouldn't be here. It should be in the "Superman Returns" section but that's for the MODS to decide.

So should this thread be merged with the casting thread then?

No it shouldn't. Brandon Routh actually played Superman in a movie that came out in 2006, how is this even remotely a casting thread.

When the big cheese decides how he wants to approach this, the forum will be changed around.

You know I like many people on here who mega dug SR but I am still trying to figure out what was so amazing about Routh too. He didn't have a chance to shine. He wasn't even really the hero in his own movie and way too much time was spent on Lois and other supporting characters. My problem is, I can't judge his acting or effectiveness as The Man of Steel because a character named Richard was too busy being Superman while Superman was too busy being a silent Spider-Man.

I'm like WTF man? Can Superman be made to actually look like the hero of his own film? To this day, it boggles my mind.

I understand that you're trying to keep the forum tidy but the Cavill thread was civil, it had a poll, and people were interested in it. If the thread sucked it probably would have died off on it's own anyways.

Oh dont get me wrong I am not judging Routh entire acting ability based on his performance in SR (Although it was Medicore in that film) its just he did nothing endearing in the film to garner so much praise and adoration to the point of seeming irreplaceable.

I agree that it was. Trust me, you'll get it, I just want to see what direction we are going with the forums and you guys can go nuts with whatever threads you want. I'm not going to delete the Cavill or the Welling thread. They are just closed, for now.

The only reason everything is so consolidated right now, is because there were 16 pages of Man of Steel threads that I just merged and deleted down to about 6 pages. It's not going to be restricted like this, I want you guys to open threads and talk about everything to do with the reboot. I just want to find out where everything is going to go first, I've given my suggestions, it will be very soon. Very soon.

I don't think Routh is that strong of an actor. People can learn to act but the ones that are good at it seem to be strong from the start. The one's that are bad at it always seem to come off bad. It's not like year one you are okay and two years later you're Robert De Niro.

Fair enough. It wasn't even my thread to be honest. I know your job sucks sometimes when you have to deal with people like me.

Just saw Routh on an episode of fear itself.

He was pretty good in my opinion.

You are tame compared to what I usually have to deal with...

He had some good moments, but he was pretty average on a pretty average show.

You don't like the show? :cmad:

Joke aside, what i meant to say was, he wasn't as bad an actor as i thought he was, judging from his performance n that cinematic POS..Superman returns.

I think he is going to certainly get jobs, but his career isn't going to be as Bale's has went.

I guess the next movie to watch for is Dylan Dog.

Although it is just a cameo, I think he and Justin Long are pretty funny in the upcoming Zack and Miri Make a Porno.

He'll get some cameos, he'll get some leads, he'll get some sidekick characters. I don't know. I don't feel bad for any of these guys, they aren't giving me money to feel bad for them.

That film should be a smash, Kevin Smith, Seth Rogen and Brandon Routh.:wow:
