Michael Cera is so right for Jimmy it's scary. I know people don't like him anymore because apparently he just plays George Michael in every role, I still say he has alot of talent & it would be a good role for him to step away from that & be a bit more brash & assertive rather than shy & awkward.

A lot of people want Yelchin these days, but I do see that Cera is probably a better option.

please keep Michael Cera far away from Superman. Jimmy's supposed to be an optimistic and cheerful photographer, which is pretty much the opposite of what Cera keeps playing.

Nolan/whatever director does this movie would have Cera play him optimistic and cheerful. Your point has no merit, since in the other movies Cera played it the way it was written. If they write Jimmy correctly, he will play it correctly.

unfortunately, we have yet to see Cera play a bright and cheerful lad. granted, i have not seen Scott Pilgrim yet...the previews/clips i've seen show him to play the same shy/awkward type that he usually does.

if there is a director that can get Cera to convincingly play a bright, cheerful type then i wouldn't mind seeing him (though i still think there are better choices) but i have yet to see Cera in that type of role....so therefor my opinion of him remains unchanged. plus, as we can all see from that picture of the cast from Scott Pilgrim.....he likes to rub microphones on his crotch (joking) ^_^

If you watch Arrested Development, apart from the times when he's pining over Maeby he actually plays bright & optimistic quite well. He also doesn't appear as awkward in the show as he does in the movies. As I've said, he's been pigeonholed to play a certain character now, doesn't mean he can't play different. To ignore that fact is ignorant. Now whether he can play that part convincingly?, well that's another story, but lookswise he has it hands down & he's also not "big enough" yet that he'd turn it down. Plus he seems like a genuinely nice bloke.

Everything you said was simply brilliant.

i've seen a few episodes and i don't share that opinion.

i'm not saying he can't...i'm just saying that i haven't seen him do it in a convincing manner.

Now whether he can play that part convincingly?, well that's another story, but lookswise he has it hands down
FULLY disagree...one of the reasons why Cera keeps getting cast as awkward types is because he looks....AWKWARD. Anton Yelchin looks 10 times more like Jimmy than Cera ever could!

he's also not "big enough" yet that he'd turn it down. Plus he seems like a genuinely nice bloke.
i'm not doubting that. i'm doubting his ability to act as an optimistic and cheerful photographer.

Everything you said was simply brilliant.
ew...

Damn... I wish they'd just come out and announce solid news to end this indecisive crap.

I thought Brandon was really iconic! He had that sense of peace about him that Superman should have, but also eyes that could pierce into you if he wanted them to, and a strong chin. His delivery was fantastic.

I'm sure under Nolan's eye, with better writing (and a less plasticky costume - with a more open neck?), he would be the perfect Superman for the film. But the thing is, they're probably going to want to avoid association with Returns and go for a more fresh feel, so yeah... tragic.

Also, didn't Nolan at one point say he's not going to be casting Brandon? Maybe I misread.

This is a stretch, but nonetheless, I'm posting it.

Brandon's wife Courtney is coming to the CW, and the network is owned in part by Warner Brothers. This is what the CW had to say:

Courtney is best-known as the daughter of the deceased Trinity killer (Akron’s John Lithgow) on Dexter, and she’s married to big-screen Superman Brandon Routh.

Notice it doesn't say "former big-screen Superman" or "ex-Superman" or whatever...

When there's no news, one must pull out the fine-tooth comb.

Did anyone check out Zac Pilgrim vs. The World? How was Routh's performance in the film?
