Superman got only like $3 million on Friday. It's NOT going to make over $200 million. It's not even going to FLY past $200 million as the WB spin doctors said it would.

Those international numbers look pretty bad as well.

The WB offices are not somewhere I'd like to be right now.

I'd just like to point out, Cars did better numbers on its FIFTH Friday, than Superman did on its third weekend.

Superman is on its third friday. It should be putting up better numbers than three million. Click even did better on its third friday.

The fanboys can really make any excuses they want, but these numbers are TERRIBLE for Superman.

I want to run through it dressed as Captain Jack and see what happens...

Superman Returns was basically this summer's version of the Hulk.

I was expecting $300m from Supes. What happened?

WB decided it would be a good idea to take on POTC...

It is Superman, one would think if any movie could take it on bladdy bladdy blah.

How much is Pirates expected to make altogether? (US)

The way it's looking right now it's going to be over $350 million easy.

DMC:$214,975,000 (Estimate) domestic
Domestic: $214,975,000 82.2%
+ Foreign: $46,636,000 17.8%
= Worldwide: $261,611,000

SR:$155,318,000 (Estimate) domestic
Domestic: $155,318,000 81.3%
+ Foreign: $35,800,000 18.7%
= Worldwide: $191,118,000

In that case I'll look forward to Pirates 3 in the near future. Is Supes on track to make at least $200m? I want to see Supes 2 one day but I don't know if < $200m is good enough.

EDIT: Judging from above figures it's going to be close. :(

what's sadder is that SR doesnt have longetivy. even little man stole the second spot with you,me, and dupree. at 3 and SR at 4th. soooo sad!

I never considered pirates as a contender for a huge film from the man behind x-men 2. But it's definitely a spider-man 2 movie-wise. I enjoyed both the same so I see why it's kicking booty.

You do realize that X-men 2 and Pirates came out in the same year and Pirates was more successful right?

Yeah, Pirates 1 made about $90m more than X2 so Pirates isn't the surprise, Supes is.

Not until now. Hmmm I guess it always had good chances.

if it doesnt make $12 million for the Friday-Sunday period this weekend it doesnt stand a chance. Considering it only grosse $3.2 million on Friday it's looking like it wont, and it will be lucky to get to $10 million for the weekend. Come back Sunday around 3 PM for those figures.
Next Friday youve got 5 pretty major films opening in all the key demos, and Supes is gonna be relegated to sub million dollar days once that happens. I'd expect $180-85 million as long as the rest of this weekend doesnt get any worse...

pirates is beating supes and it has been out for like 10 days less.

Thanks

It does sound like it is all over on the $200m+ front.

Sorry I'm being lazy but which films are opening next week?

lady in the water
clerks2
my super ex girlfriend. i think im gonna go see all three of them. 21 bucks go bye bye.:(

Thks

I'll probably see them but I won't be rushing out.

Pirates of the Caribean may haven't taken 20 years to make but it looks better than the Superman remake. Superman was the same thing everybodies seen and people don't want that. PotC: DMC offers something new and original. Its going to earn more for that reason.
