what exactly is the big deal with season 3 ? (mind you, i haven't seen it yet. )
is it olicity ? cause i've been expecting that to happen since season 1 anyway.
It's been a while now so I can finally talk about this without getting emotional. Bear in mind this is just my opinion and I'm not hating anyone who thinks differently.
Season 3 of Arrow is the most disappointing season of any show ever, and one of the biggest letdowns I've had as a viewer.
Season 2 left us with Oliver Queen bankrupt and needing a job. They were ready to tell the story of China. Amanda Waller was a very grey character and Thea went off with Merlyn. For a TV show they actually left themselves in really good shape to tell stories for the next season with lots of plot threads.
What we got was Oliver just happened to have a few million around. Amanda Waller was built up as this big deal and then suddenly rushed off screen as a bit character half way through. The Chinese storyline really was flat and barely ever related to the plot at all. Thea was already a ninja who sometimes loved her dad, sometimes hated him and just made bad choice after bad choice. They 'killed off' a major character then they were suddenly fine again with no believable explanation.
R'as Al Ghul appeared with albeit a little foreshadowing and his only motivation seemed to be to piss Oliver off until Ollie took over the league. The whole thing was gloomy and dark with barely any humor. Apart from Vinnie Jones mini-arc all the villains and stories were forgettable. And that Olicity was too much. I part believe whole characters were created just so super felicity could save the day.
Basically it felt like (not saying it is) that DC pulled the plug on Waller because of the suicide squad movie, and they took an old batman comic and copy-pasted it into Arrow.
Pretty much every character at some point did something that went against their previously established characters, Slade was used as a villain of the week and not even a good one...
It was just bad. And I was lying, I'm still emotional
