The Amazing Spider-Man Marc Webb says that Exciting Spider-Man info is coming

Soon. Possibly by the end of the month or so. I definitely think we'll be seeing more by November though. But who knows. They could hauling ass in casting now. They have two months left.

Hopefully a villain. If that villain turns out to be one we already had, then explain how a little bit about how he will be portrayed this time.

Honestly I'm kind of hoping a for a really dark and more sinister Green Goblin, that looks more like the comic book.

The griping about 3D should not apply here, as this superhero is probably the only one that is begging to be in 3D. As a kid, seeing Spidey swing around the theatre would just be awesome for you. And I would not want to deprive the generation of it.
Spider-Man webslinging in 3d weaving in and out of buildings is going to look incredible. You will really feel like your several stories up in the air. Spider-Man in 3d on Imax would be more like an experience than a movie.

As long as the 3D isn't half-assed it should be awesome. I'll gladly pay for good 3D.

If they're smart, they'll hire WETA to assure that the 3D will be up to par, and on good visual standards. If Sony Imageworks is handling the 3D effects I'm officially worried.

I am not a big fan of the 3D approach. I fear they will shoot scenes specifically to enhance the 3D, as opposed to simply worrying about framing the scene for that point of the story.. PERIOD.

Hopefully, it will be more along the lines of Avatar's 3D, where it simply enhanced the story (bringing you into that world), without the cheezy 3D "Money Shots".

You know I wonder if this movie should be three hours long and cover a good year or two of Peter's life. The villains could be the Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus, and they could tell the whole story of Captain Stacy being killed by Ock, and Green Goblin killing off Gwen.

Make Goblin look more like the comic book and have Ock act more like his comic book counterpart. In this kind of story I think there would even be room for the Vulture. He doesn't actually have to be a main character though. His time in the movie could be kind of short lived. He could be introduced partway through the movie, right after Pete becomes a hero, and defeated very quickly, and then never heard from again. do that instead of showing him beating up a common regular thug.

I agree. Which is why I said they should hire WETA who handled Avatar.

I agree on this. The 3d gimmicky stuff was cool for a couple of kids movies, because 3d was new and it was nice to see this new effect. But once you have seen one cheesy gimmick, you've seen them all.

I honestly think they should just choreograph scenes exactly how they would in 2d, but then use the 3d cameras to film it.

Things don't need to pop out, although it's okay if they do. The main thing 3d adds is depth perception which makes it feel and look more "realistic."

3d adds realism. But not if you make it cheesy.

That would be one heck of a lot in a movie, even with 3 hours. Too crowded for my liking and does not allow the building of key characters for furture movies.

And makes you wonder IF they did this, where would they go with the sequel?

Agreed.

The forumla is actually kind of borrowed from how they handled Scarecrow, Carfoni(what's his name), and Ras ah Gul in Batman Begins.

As far as how this goes for building key characters for future movies that all depends on if they do a good job with the story and the characters in the first movie.

It would definitely make it more believable when Peter is too afraid to hook up with MJ in part 2.

In total agreement, I just wonder (with the rumored budget) if they can a$$(ff)ord it. :cwink:

True, but Peter has a connection to Osborn/Goblin, as opposed to Batman and Joker. So they did not need much setup for Joker in BB for TDK, other than the teaser ending. Which I would love such a teaser ending for the reboot, hinting of the Goblin Legacy to come. (all though the crys of fanboys claiming copying BB/TDK would be deafening :cwink:)

In SM2, the scene where Harry discovers the GG lair, the music, the formula in his hand as he looked on at the glider; that was a great set up scene; too bad they butchered SM3. A set up of that nature for GG in the re-boot would be great.

Agreed! Loved that setup.

well even though it's been done, this would still be a set up for Harry Osborn. And not all villains need to have a set up in the previous movie.

??? I guess you meant Norman Osborn, not Harry.

No not all villains need a setup, but Norman Osborn should have a setup again because he has a relationship with Peter, through Harry.

And yes, NOT ALL villains should be connected to Peter. One of the things I disliked about Raimi's verse.
