The Amazing Spider-Man Marc Webb to return?

I feel like they gave Connor's characteristics away to Doc Ock. He is a family man, and that is very important for his character. And they sort of made Connors into a Raimi villain by giving him that split personality. I'm just glad they didn't kill him off at the end, so perhaps he could still be a relevant character throughout the franchise, and they could either show his family or at least give ONE mention. He could become the father figure that Peter really needs in his life, the man that he goes to when in trouble.

I honestly thought that Connor's backstory in TASM was as good as Doc Ock's in SM2, but that's probably just me.

I don't think it was. With Ock, we could clearly picture what his life was like before he saw his dream fail. Here, his history is largely unexplained and we never are really allowed to feel sorry for Connors. He becomes straight up goofy really quickly, and it undercuts any attempts at sympathy he tried. At least with Ock, we saw him reflect about the loss of his wife, his failed experiment, etc. Far more character development, and his journey felt like an arc. Connors just felt...generic to me.

..I felt sorry for Connors. :/

So, I guess it's just a difference of perspective.

Leaving out Conners' wife and kid was unforgivable. That is the anchor that draws him back from wanting to be the lizard.

I think they did an interesting job with Conners, but leaving that out was a huge mistake. I mean they even have him wearing a wedding ring, so it's not like someone didn't think about it.

Also inside his house when Peter visits, you can see framed pictures in the background with his wife and kids, so I'm pretty sure they were part of the storyline at some point.

I also would have liked it if his family had factored into the storyline, but am guessing it got lost in the edit.

They WERE apart of the story line. They had actors and everything.

If the family had any part of the film, then it wouldn't have been major since the Lizard's plan was just to simply turn everyone into Lizards. It is possible to fix this a little bit in the sequel if Connors returns. His family can visit him in the asylum or prison (which one is it again?) and then he can apologize to them, and say how his family makes up for his missing arm and so much more.

Nope. I remember SHH reporting that Billy Connors had been cast about two years ago. Then, earlier this year, the same actor talked about doing scenes with Rhys.
Interesting. I wonder if there actually is any footage of him and Rhys that was deleted, or if his character never even got that far.

i think its a shame if webb doesnt come back to finish the trilogy

id hope he would at least be producer if he doesnt return

And as far as Sam Raimi goes, he made the Evil Dead trilogy and the Darkman franchise at least.
Two reasons why he shouldn't have directed Spider-Man. Movies filled with over-the-top cheese and hokey ass acting to boot. And he ended up spreading that cheese throughout the entire trilogy.

What influence does a producer have on the ulitimate quality of a film? Like if they get a director that's got an entirely different (let's worse) sensibility than Webb, I wonder how much it would help to have Webb as one of the film's producers. Just curious, I don't know the creative role of producers, but I think they control money matters?

To each his own.

Huh, that news article makes it sound like Sony DOES want Webb back.

I'd trust LATimes more than CosmicBookNews also..

Where was there hokey acting outside of Spider-Man 3? The first two movies were great and honestly I'd like to see you do better.

It really seems to me like the only thing people on this board remember from the Raimi trilogy is the third installment.

Actually, I thought that the lines Peter had in the beginning of SM1 were pretty hokey.

so fox will let webb do the sequel if he does 2 films for them now

its a battle between 2 studios webb has a one film comittment to fox sony already has a release date for amazing spiderman 2 2014.so i guess fox wants that film to be his next so that wuld mean he couldnt do the spidey sequel in time.sony would have to have spidey 2 shooting jan 2013 to make that release date.now fox is trying to make him do 2 films for them if he agrees they would let him do spidey 2 next for sony then do there films

So Webb will have to direct 2 horrible FOX films if he does TAS-M 2. Marvelous.
