The Amazing Spider-Man Marc Webb to return?

I can't picture Aranofsky being willing to direct a Spider-Man film. He doesn't strike me as a director who would. Correct me if I'm wrong, please.

For Aronofsky to even consider something like this he would need to be given carte blanche. Would that happen like Nolan? I would love to see him do something like Kraven's Last Hunt.

That articles sounds like total BS...atleast I'm hoping.

I'll be very upset if Webb doesn't return. He did a superb job in TASM. Plus, this is his vision of Spider-Man, which I loved. I don't want that to change hands. Continue on please. I'd hate to start having all these different directors. TASM was great, but it's sequel would be a completely different direction/vision with someone else.

My feelings exactly.

It can't be overstated how badly this can be botched by replacing the director who's set up such a fantastic cinematic world with a distinct tone and heartbeat. It needs to be Marc Webb coming back!

I've only seen 3 or 4 of Aranofsky's films, and I know he's very accomplished and regarded as a fantastic director, but I don't love his films and don't think a TAS followup from him would be satisfying, for my tastes at least. And about him requiring cart blanche, I bet something like that is true. If the studio wants a director they can push around, I don't think he's the guy. If they'd be willing to relinquish creative control to him, I wish they'd just do it with Webb!

I have read several times in this thread that people want Ridley Scott to direct ASM 2. lolwut?

I mean, stay REALISTIC. Seriously...jeez. Big Players like Spielberg, Jackson, Cameron, Scott and Fincher will never do a CBM...ever! They just dont have to do it. They dont have to hide behind big superhero names. They do their very own stuff, only the stuff they want to do. They would never reduce themselves down to a comicbook character and its respective elements.

Fincher and Cameron actually came pretty close to direct Spidey at one time, but that didnt work out, and now the chance is over. Now they are both WAY BEYOND Comicbook-Movies.

Also Sony would not even want directors that big. Because if you have Ridley Scott directing for example, you cant interfere anymore. Ridley is doing his thing then. But Marvel and Sony always WANT to interfere.

Ridley Scott wouldn't interest me anyway. Fincher and Cameron would definitely intertest me but the chances for both has come and gone unfortunately.

...that was the first time I even saw Ridley Scott mentioned in this thread.

This really pisses me off.

How about we ALL SIGN A PETITION. EFF THIS! Screw you SONY!

YES. GREAT IDEA.

SONY, the one of the biggest companies out will listen to the nerds on the internet boards, of course what was I thinking?

No. I'd hope it would work but lets be REALISTIC.

Sorry, but no Aronofsky or Fincher for me. On Spider-Man, Fincher had this to say:

David Fincher said:
My impression what Spider-Man could be is very different from what Sam [Raimi] did or what Sam wanted to do. I think the reason he directed that movie was because he wanted to do the Marvel comic superhero. I was never interested in the genesis story. I couldn’t get past a guy getting bit by a red and blue spider. It was just a problem… It was not something that I felt I could do straight-faced. I wanted to start with Gwen Stacy and the Green Goblin, and I wanted to kill Gwen Stacy.

The title sequence of the movie that I was going to do was going to be a ten minute — basically a music video, an opera, which was going to be the one shot that took you through the entire Peter Parker [backstory]. Bit by a radioactive spider, the death of Uncle Ben, the loss of Mary Jane, and [then the movie] was going to begin with Peter meeting Gwen Stacy. It was a very different thing, it wasn’t the teenager story. It was much more of the guy who’s settled into being a freak.

It would be cool to see, yeah, but it seems clear to me that he doesn't love Spider-Man at all and is only interested in the "freak" aspect of it all.

I could live with a movie that explores the fact that a boy is essentially half spidey. Hey does that effect him mentally? In his mind, should he have children? Will he continue to change? etc, very interesting themes.

Stop being such a *****, SpideyMarvelite. Movies die and live by the public. If we drum up enough EFFING NOISE and threaten to boycott the second triology if it's not Marc Webb's, and the movie runs the risk of tanking, Who's to say they won't make sure Mark is rehired??!!

Aronofsky and Fincher fit with Batman more than Spider-Man, imo. I give credit to Marc Webb because he could make a light-hearted film, although Sony wanted to try a "darker" route.

Im sure they wouldn't listen to us, its SONY man they wont listen to the fans. TSSM anyone?

I want Webb back like all of you, I dont see that working.

A Spider-Man 3.1, TSSM, keeping Loeb out of cancelling Avengers: EMH(mostly for Marvel), cancelling the horrible Ultimate Spider-Man(Marvel), keeping Josh Keaton as Spidey in EMH(Marvel)....all proof that Sony, and Marvel, doesn't listen to any petition or any vocal point. They just ignore or perma-delete comments from their Facebook :funny:

Anno is correct, they don't listen. I hope that Webb can come back, if he doesn't get someone better or as good as him. Please no hacks or crappy directors SONY.
