I don't know. While his work on X-Men wasn't too full of shock value, I do think his work on The Authority certainly was. But again, to each his own.

He doesn't sound like an acutual cook book fan, let alone Superman. It's probably some hired geek who has JUST seen the Superman movies as a kid, loved them, hopefully not after 2nd, and that's been his only true exposure to the Superman mythology.

Morrison is over rated. I consider him the Howard Stern of comic books. He is like a shock jockey. He does things for the sake of shock value (Professor X's sister whom he killed in the womb, etc). In the end, his stories are lacking I think.

Your opinion, and you are certainly entitled to it, but Morrison's writing has always carried far more subtext than most, he's deeper and more intellectual, sometimes seemingly arcane but his innovation and storytelling abilities in my view far outweigh Millar's, though Millar certainly knows how to entertain.

I can see that argument. That's essentially what I said about Spider-man and Batman Begins. I felt that they followed the same basic formula. But that's why I loved both of them. Just like with those, it's all in the execution to me.

I don't think so. Ellis practiced a lot more restraint on that book than Millar.

I dunno, Morrison relies too much on shock for my liking. Sometimes he has twists not for the sake of story but for the sake of having a twist.

His Emma/Scott story line seemed entirely out of character. Emma mind raping Scott was just weird. Cassandra Nova. Xorn = Magneto but not really Magneto. Secondary mutations.

There are all examples of the weird twists Morrison has if for no other reason than to have twists.

Just to clear up...I'm not blind to the fact that a lot of u, myself included, complained about small things on the suit. I was just using as an example.

I agree. Superman is all about good vs. evil and doing what's right, not so much about Superman beating the crap out the wrong-doer of the day. There's more to the character than "I need someone to hit" and Millar REALLY should know this by now.

I see what millar's saying. shock. gasp.

Maybe it's purely for the sake of doing something cool, but I'd have really liked to see something similar to the Clark vs evil-supes battle in Superman 3. That was amazing, but too short to fully satisfy.

Lex knows how to hurt superman, and he will, he'll rape him mentally and all that good stuff, but I agree with Millar that with todays tech being so good, maybe we didn't need another Lex vs supes story... since nowadays we could do the supes vs krytonian fight ten times better than before..... It will be a hell of a sequel if something like that what Singer has planned.... One of the biggest appeals of superman is that he can do some amazing things with his powers and with a foe to match him in that aspect, we'd get some extremely awesome visuals, I'd bet. Like Matrix Revolutions, but not bad.

I think Millar got some of the points wrong & I disagree with him, but I understand where he's coming from. It true some are worry, but you have to keep an open mind until you see the movie. It could surprise you.
