Mark Millar has every right to share his opinion. It's his opinion. But let take the time to express my opinion on the matter. I just don't see this movie being a bad movie at all. The critics can and comic authors can say what they want to say but when SR opens to record breaking numbers they will all hop on the the Supes bandwagon and enjoy the ride. They said a lot of things about Spider-Man too before it came out. It opened huge and everybody was then saying good things about Spidey. Tell me one comic movie that is 100% true and faithful to the comics. No matter what us comci fanboys think, there will never be a comic book movie that will be 100% true to the comics. There'll always be something to nitpick about. But does that mean the movie will be bad? Does that mean the story will be bad? Does that mean the acting will be bad? Does that mean the movie won't be dramatic and emotional? As much as I would love to see Superman face a supervillian and perform unimaginable impressive feats, I think Singer is doing what's best for the franchise by taking a realistic approach to the Superman world and trying to win over the general audience. That's what Raimi did with Spider-Man. And it worked. Singer is using the same approach and it will work. Superman will no doubt open to huge numbers. They make tons of money form DVD Sales and rentals and then the second movie will be set up nicely for a supevillian and all those amazing feats. If people want to complain about a superhero movie go and complain about Batman & Robin or Catwomen. Don't under estimate Singer and SR.
