Mark Steven Johnson doing HBO Preacher series

The writer of the mediocre Daredevil and "Grumpy old men" and the director of "Pretty in Pink" working on the Preacher pilot?
WTF?

People keep bringing up Daredevil and acting like it wasn't another Fox ****up. Many agree that the Director's Cut is a much better film and should have been the theatrical release in the first place. He is finally doing a superhero flick at a good studio Sony and it looks like its going to be awesome. And you didn't like Grumpy Old Men?? I thought it was funny as hell. The same with Pretty In Pink. And the guy actually has actually done at least a couple of very good films IMO.

Yeah, DD:DC was awesome.

But, one question: MSJ directed Pretty in Pink? I thought that was John Hughes.

This is better than sex, Jesus, good Virtigo comics, and Irving Forbush combined. :o

No. Howard Deutch (the guy attached right now to direct Preacher) directed Pretty In Pink and John Hughes wrote it. Sixteen Candles is the one John Hughes directed is the one I think your confusing it with. MSJ and Howard have worked together already on Grumpier Old Men.

Okay, question for y'all: What stuff do you most wish they'll keep in? I know most would say "Everything!" But, what do you want to see the very most?

I hope for all the stuff involving Jessie's past--the cult family, his father teaching him with John Wayne movies, and John Wayne helping Jessie grow up to be a man. :o

I have been hanging the Ghost Rider boards ever since the pre production time and MSJ pops in once and a while and just let me say this. He knows and cares about what the true fans want to see. Even when the first trailer came out there were plenty of scenes that looked like they were visually ripped out from the comics.

'nuff said. :o

Well it hasn't been confirmed whether it will be live action or animated. If it is animated I would say just ****ing adapt it straight from the pages. :)

Man, if that happened, I'd make sweet, sweet, fanboy love to them. :wow: :woot:

If it's animated, drawing it exactly in the style of the artwork, adapting it word for word, panel for panel.

Hey Spawn was ****ing awesome and won its share of awards. Guess we will have just wait and see. It is rare that I have a tv show that I can attach to and these I will look forward to every ****ing day.

Sorry but not excited, love Preacher to bits but MSJ is an extremely untalented by the numbers hollywood stereotype. Like a less famous Michael Bay or something.

And having heard all the rubbish spewed by him and his ilk about how they love this or that comic, more of the same falls on deaf ears. Even with the best intentions he simply isn't talented.

Preacher rocks. HBO rocks. Mark Steven Johson ro... eh... dunno, gotta wait for it. Didn't really like DD and the DC didn't really improve it.

I so hope this will be live action. :yay:

I love your optimism, it inspires me.

Its the truth. It has to get Sopranos level ratings for it to have a long run. HBO cancels things quicker than NBC. Not even Deadwood was able to survive more than 2 seasons. (2 movies are on the way)

At least they are giving it a shot. Same with Moon Knight. Bout time.
