Good news for all you Venom freaks.. kinda.

DISCREPANCY ALERT!

Okay, I know I have said that I have slowly began to believe the Q & A, but this is interesting:

But didn't our scooper today say that Sam told him that Venom had the White logo? Something's gotta give....

it all depends on whose looking at it. Like I explained before. Some might not see it as black, and some who aren't that into it, like the scooper, will see it as black.

Raimi TOLD him the logo/symbol on Venom was white.

you had me until I read spidey being strapped down by aliens. Cancel the alien part, he has a flashback to him being at some sort of crash site and getting overtaken by some sort of black living organism.

actually your right, my idea would suck unless you traded the alien flash back to the flashback you described.

this would probably be better than anything else becuase we get to find out it's ET, but while still knowing so little about how it got to earth, keeps it mysterious.

What if Venom doesn't look exactly the same every time we see him? maybe that could explain the contradictions.

Things can change over the year prior to the film's release. The spider being white is a very small change. In Spidey 1 there were some released photos that showed Spidey's lenses were black. And there were also webshooters.

So by that very rationale, everything in the Q & A cannot be taken verbatim (although, we already knew that ;)).

they could color it in at post-production.

But wouldn't he know that?

*sigh* I'm thinking about this WAY too much. :D :D

they aint doin' post yet dude :p

Raimi (assuming he's telling the truth) has in his mind's eye a Venom suit with a white spider logo. even if costuming dept currently has it in pink, how hard do you think can it be for Raimi to call the head of VFX and tell 'em to paint the spiderlogo white in post? very easy ;)

Yeah, little details change. But the bulk of the Q&A is almost certainly true.

As for this new scoop, we don't know exactly how Sam responded to the questions, or even exactly how the scooper asked them. To me, it sounds like Sam was giving him rather short answers though, maybe just pacifying the guy and being agreeable for him (read: trying to keep conversation with possibly deranged fan as short as possible). I'd say things are still up in the air.

.....That's not what I meant. I mean, the L man described the Venom suit in detail, he described action sequences, Sandman, the GG's suit, etc. He obviously seemed to have been in the SERIOUS KNOW. He said Venom has no white symbol. Raimi says he has a white symbol. It's a slight discrepancy. A slight one.

I don't know, this seems to reek of fakeness.

Superman Returns is through Warner Bros and Spider-Man 3 is through Columbia Pictures. I am not positive but I don't think movie companies advertise trailers to other filming companies.

Ok I see his pics now...

Superman returns trailer played with X3, so anything's [possible. We'll see. I was hoping for a glimpse of Venom but maybe they're not trying to market him as a huge part of the film if he only has 10 minutes of screentime. That's the problem the X3 trailer made and I was dissapointed when we got no screentime for certain chracters.

true, but again we're not sure what Raimi has in mind (wouldnt we all want to? ;)). we dont know if he has been mulling it over of a while but hasnt told anyone because he hasnt made a decision yet or if it was a spur of the momment thing when speaking with an excited fan.

lets say right now the Venom suit doesnt have a white spider logo. when Raimi cuts this together and sees it for the first time he's gonna notice the details that he may want to touch up on and work on a bit more. Venom's spider logo could very well be one of those. but it'll all come down to style, what would look better onscreen.

sigh. you said the Q& A was wrong because the scooper said there was no white. and then I said

wow powder-man, you've got like 10 replies to against your one post saying that studios don't promote other studios films. you're really getting owned.

1.) I'm not really going to get too much farther into this, cause really it was kinda pointless from the beginning.

2.) The scooper (the one from NY) didn't see the VENOM suit (well...duh) Raimi told him it had the white symbol. Lakiamai said there was no white on the Spider symbol on the VENOM suit. Lakiamai described the suit in pretty good detail and even said "the veins also shape into the Spider thats on his chest in the comics" implying that he's seen the comic design.

Again, it's not a big deal, but it's interesting nonetheless.

dammit, guess i have to break it down.

I was implying that the Q&A guy wasn't wrong, like you said, because he wasn't a big Spider-Man fan and therefore, he didn't notice that the symbol was not completely black.
