Martin Campbell is Directing Green Lantern

Orlando Bloom? Decent actor, but not a great fit for this role. That's not to say he couldn't do it well, I just don't see him as Hal. One way or another, I'd like to see Bloom in a superhero movie, though.

i wouldn't be against Bloom, but he hasn't done a whole lot where he's..charismatic or funny. I feel like he never found his groove as the leading man type.

I just want something concrete saying they have a director and have a Hal cast. :)

I'm hoping its not Bloom. He only seems to work as a straight-man for more interesting actors.

If Bloom is cast as Hal, they might as well change the title of the movie to 'Vanilla Lantern'.

The guys just so damn bland.

Bloom has become too well known, man. The Pirates movies made his ass too recognizable. I want someone that's got some work under their belt, but not someone that fangirls or even most people recognize right off the bat.

A firm "no" to Bloom. Anyone BUT him. Not only is he bland but he's terribly short and not someone I envision playing Hal -- physically.

If Warners can't find a good U.S. actor, then cast someone from the UK or Australia. Bale's from the UK and he did just fine playing Batman. I'm sure there's someone in the UK or Oz that can fit Hal to a "T" if they can't find an American guy.

Well, Bloom is from the UK. There are plenty of American actors who fit the part of Hal just fine.

Well, you know the trend in Hollywood now is to find someone from the UK or Aussie first. I guess because it's hip and cheaper.

I could MAYBE by Bloom as Kyle. He's simply not Hal material.

Also:

Damian Lewis for Hal.

Well, not always. I read an article from Variety lately explaining that there's a dearth of masculine U.S. actors and that the more masculine actors all come from overseas. Jason Statham, Gerald Butler, the list goes on.

Bloom is from the UK, I'm just saying there's far better actors than him in the U.S., UK and Oz. If Warners is trying to leap on the LOTR/POTC bandwagon by casting him in GL (in any role), it's just not going to work.

All the more reason to not cast Bloom. Of all the actors in the UK, America, and Aussieland, he's the best idea of Hal Jordan?

That's not a world I can believe in.:woot:

Also doesn't anyone watch Flight of The Concords? Aussies are evil, thieving, rapists.

That's why my forebears sent 'em to Australia, back in the day.

:D

(I mean that in a totally lighthearted way - no offense meant to any of my Auzzie friends on here)

Lewis'd be a fine Tomar Re or Salaak... Heavily made-up, obviously.

Yea i said last night he would be a decent actor for the role but hopefully we will get someone else for the role. I do hope we get official word on campbell confirmed and hal cast in the coming weeks.

Whoever they cast as Hal, I'd prefer it to be someone in their mid to late twenties.
