Marvel’s First Family Casting Thread

I don't think that will happen just because you have a actor who has a larger than life presence or ability, if the writing is good. The writing will determine whether everyone else comes off foolish, not the actor. I suppose if you having an actor of DDL caliber , you're going to have to find a Reed who can stand toe to toe with him acting wise , but that's what the casting process is for.

The fear is more that the villain could come off looking stupid since , despite the fact that this guy is a commanding presence and dynamic, he still loses to the F4. But with a role like Doom, who's presumably going to be in several different MCU films, I think it would be good if they find an actor who could be compelling enough across multiple franchises, which the other two Dooms have very much lacked.

No Julian McMahons or Domashevs this time round! Lol, I still laugh at the idea Doom was going to be Kebell's blogger handle.

I don’t know about that. If that were the case we would see more demand for run of the mill actors that just happened to have the right hair color. There’s a reason Kevin Feige almost cast Krasinski as Cap (he seemed to be a close hair behind Evans) and Blunt as Black Widow (Emily refused the role). Have you watched The Office? Jack Ryan? The Edge of Tomorrow (Live Die Repeat)? Both of them are more than capable of nailing these roles. Krasinski embodies the character of Reed- naturally. Blunt can do so as well but she is because she is a great actress. You would be hard pressed to find all around better actors that can do comedy drama and action

That sounds nothing like Reed and nothing Krasinski has done has made me think he "embodies" Reed. I can't buy him as the smartest man in the world based on his previous roles.

Possibly. At least it’s better than the days people would basically just cast people off Instagram or teen dramas. People know marvel can get talent now.

look, I wouldn’t hate it if they were cast but it’s just so predictable

is Blunt even a natural blonde? I know I've seen her dye it light for a few roles but thought she seemed more natural with dark hair (not sure what her original hair color is, anymore)
I'm pretty sure she's a brunette but she also seems to have done roles with more or less every hair colour.

it's call acting.... if you can't have on screen chemistry with someone unless your married to them in real live, too, then they must not be very good at acting
Screen chemistry isn't just about acting skills, though. It's about how much the audience enjoys seeing certain people interact on screen. For example, Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman are both capable actors (and attractive people), but I don't think Thor and Jane Foster had that spark that great on-screen couples have.

I suppose that is why they do screen tests- to see if there is potential for on screen chemistry. This why Tom Holland won the part after screen testing with RDJ among others

Yes! No Ben Kinglsey in FF! But they're still getting Ben Kingsley to be someone who'll turn out to be another actor in Secret Invasion!

Chamelet would be an awesome choice for Johnny.

I used to push against him as Johnny, but Chalamet is the 'it' actor right now. He's not tied up in other franchises (I don't suspect we'll see a Dune 2 tbh) and he'd be great against Holland's Peter Parker.

Still love Cillian as Doom, and not totally against Jennifer Lawrence as Sue—I know it caused a bit of an uproar when that rumor first popped up.

In light of Ben-Adir’s Secret Invasion casting, a slightly amended cast for the First Family:

Reed Richards: Jay Ellis, 39

Disclaimer : This is a billion dollar cast which would never happen, and they're all out of the age group that Marvel is looking for. So Yes, I know it's not practical .

With that health warning in mind, if they wanted to go for an older fantastic four , seasoned, veteran ,team , and they were willing to spend a gagillion dollars on the cast alone then...

Reed Richards : George Clooney

Sue Storm : Charlize Theron

The same team "de- aged" in flashbacks circa 2009

Zac Efron is getting to the age where he could play Reed Richards himself. He's already 33 and could potentially look the part. Depending on when they start filming, he could already be 35 by then.

And I’m sorry, but I’m still holding out for Henry Golding as Namor:

I'd rather see him as Reed. I'm not so sure he fits Namor.

There's just too much fuel to that fire for me to ignore it. Do I expect her to be cast? Not necessarily but I won't be surprised in the least if it is true.

Yeah. That's why I chose him as an older wiser Johnny Storm in my older, veteran , F4 team .

I imagine ,with the older cast, that they would have been a team for about 10 years ,having gone through all types of adventures, and gone through their whole rogues gallery.

I know that's not the route Marvel is going at all, but , that's how I envision it in my imaginary F4 film universe.

I think he would be pitch perfect as the son of Green Goblin Harry Osborn
