Hey everyone, been a while since I wandered down to the RPG boards, but I was getting a little nostalgic the other day, and was reading through the old Marvel Heroes vs Villains games. I brought back a lot of fun memories, and I'd love to get into the role of ol' Hawkeye again, and I was just wondering if there would be any interest in starting up a new mainstream Earth 616 Marvel game again. I'd love to get back into RPGing here on the Hype

...Well holy ****. Aren't you a welcome return.

We're actually in the midst of starting a new DCU game, so a Marvel game might actually be perfect to go with it. I don't know who I'd play, if anyone, but I'd love to see it happen.

I'd be hard pressed to turn down a Marvel game if you gentlemen are in.

The topic of continuity time frame has actually crossed my mind. I stopped reading Marvel regularly right after "One More Day", or whatever that atrocious Spider-Man storyline was. I know nothing about the Marvel NOW storylines. Maybe post House of M but pre Civil War to avoid things like Cap being dead, Secret Invasion, etc (That would still give us characters like the Winter Soldier, and the freedom to do a little more of our own thing with them), or immediatley Post-Siege, start out with some feel good type vibes and then just blow it all to hell, haha. I think the exact specifics are something that can be hammered out if we can get it off the ground.

I'd also like to say that I'm interested in Hawkeye (of course), and Captain America (Steve)

I don't even know who I'd play. It'd depend on the continuity cutoff, I suppose.

I'd definitely be interested in getting involved in this if it gets off the ground.

Post House of M and Pre-Civil War as you suggested seems a pretty sensible cut-off point.

Siege struck me as a complete non-event and even though I loved Bucky as Captain America (I might even go so far as to say I preferred him) I guess if you want an RPG where Cap is central to the game it's best to make the cut-off point before he was assassinated.

So, how do we get the word out and try to get the old band back together

Should we send out some PMs. Who are some old players that still lurk around, or some new people who have come aboard since the death of the old Heroes vs Villains?

Holy hell! Aren't you a sight for sore eyes. How've you been, man?
I've been good bro how bout you? Gotta say I missed the old place. Been lurkin for a while but the prospect of a new 616 marvel rpg peaked my interest.

Yeah, I'm ready for this too.

It's really good to see the DC RPG up and running again, even better because of the interaction, so I'm pretty excited for this as well.

Well im horribly outta practice and sober as all **** but im willing to give this thing a go for old times sake. I say we throw out the word and see if we can get the band back together Blues Brothers style. Im still kinda hazing on whos still here though. Theres alot of familiar names that i notice are gone. Plus like was mentioned earlier the continuity cutoff def needs to be established. Pre Civil War could work. Post would be alittle tricky. Post Secret Invasion might be interesting cause we could work with the darker tone of the villains being in power.

Also, an easy way around the continuity snafu is to set it an arbitrary amount of time (say a year or six months) after the cut off but still before Civil War. That way enough time has passed for it to be feasible to introduce post-Civil War changes to their specific character without it being extended to everyone.

I don't know if there is enough interest yet to do an official sign up thread

I like this idea. Otherwise, I'm a little wary about the pre-Civil War cutoff. I mean, it was 8 years ago. That's a lot of comic continuity to chop off arbitrarily.

We could go a year beyond the end of House of M, with the idea that a lot,of the heroes went their own way/ laid low for that time period. That would give a some wiggle room for some back story, or add in elements post Civil War, etc, without the messiness of that event. Ex: My starting point for Steve would have him taking back the mantle of Cap after handing it off to Bucky for a year while he took some time to decompress after everything that had happened. That way we still, have the continuity of Bucky being Cap.
