It won't be easy to find someone good on such short notice.

Which director should Marvel try to get?

Vadim Jean was a good suggestion before Patty come on board. I still like that idea.

Duncan Jones would be awesome but Marvel needs to back off a bit and let him tell a story.

I second Vadim Jean, the man does amazing things with little to no budget.

Ducan Jones is a big comic fan. I wasn't surprised to see him on lists to director Superman and Wolverine. I don't think he would be right for Thor though.

Alfonso Cuaron would be great. Terry Gilliam would be a cool left field choice although he clashes with movie execs and he has said he doesn't like these recent summer blockbuster movies.

I agree with the choices of Neil Marshall, Vadim Jean, and Duncan Jones as well as Branagh if he just so happens to decide to return to the director's chair (wishful thinking, I know).

How about Rupert Wyatt? He's quite competent.

I like Neil Marshall alot but I don't see him doing a movie like Thor. Rupert Wyatt although Fox want a Apes sequel from him so I don't know if he would have the time. Joe Cornish would be great choices though.

Cornish is already co-writting Ant-Man for Marvel and Attack The Blocks action seemed to attract the intrest of Fox Execs who were intrested in him directing Die Hard 5.

I think they should give it to Duncan Jones. If I can pick any director, I'd choose Matthew Vaughn (who was attached to Thor at one point), but with KA2 and a sequel of First Class, even if he wants to take a crack at it I doubt he has the time to make it happen.

Is Doug Liman (Bourne Identity, Mr. and Mrs. Smith) busy?

Yes. Wyatt is also tied up. Duncan Jones might be able to swing it, and could be "unconventional" -- he's shown interest in the genre, but could still find Marvel's shoehorning a bit too much.

Whoever Marvel gets on this short notice will almost surely be someone who simply "needs a job" or will "fill a space" and not argue with Marvel's exec board.

Marvel's pick of Jenkins was definitely an indicator of the story they're interested in telling for the sequel (think Enchantress)...we'll see what comes of it now.

Maybe Matthew Vaughn is now a possibility?

That would be prime. He'd probably be my first choice at this point.
Something tells me he wouldn't take to kindly to marvel pushing their agenda on him though.

I'd be happy with Vaughn - First Class was almost very good but bogged down by too many characters.

Wondering about George Miller, personally.

Not a preference per say (actually not at all), but it's logically all there. Available (Sorry but him talking about a second Mad Max trilogy doesn't will it into existence...at least until Tom Hardy becomes bankable and still willing to do it), needs a hit after the Happy Feet 2 fiasco, has nerd-cred (Something Marvel puts into consideration with these things) and another opportunity for them to best DC, i.e. Miller's JLM dies so they grab him in one fell swoop.

I'd be happy with Vaughn too, but I still think it's highly unlikely.

Duncan Jones would be great, but doubt he would be happy with Marvel's meddling.

In an ideal world I would love Branagh to return but failing him I see no reason why Joss Whedon couldnt do it.
