Marvel One-Shots

Posted this in the Mandarin-centric thread in response to another poster, but I thought it would fit here as well, since it's an idea for the "Mandarin One-Shot"...
Oh oh oh. I just had an idea of how to convert that very non-canon One-Shot you described into an in-canon One-Shot, without sacrificing the integrity of IM3 one bit. Slightly confusing? Lemme explain.

So, we start off abruptly with Ben Kingsley in full Mandarin regalia flying through the air, shooting lasers from ten rings, battling Iron Man (in what appears to be a new suit design) one-on-one in absolute epic over-the-top manner. That goes on for about 10 minutes and we (interestingly) see that Iron Man has been re-cast. Would be awesome if they used a huge name here.

The camera pans left and we see that we're in a movie hall; an in-MCU movie hall, of course. We then see Slattery (immunity in exchange for the goods on Killian/AIM) seems to have parleyed that promising theater career and recently ill-gotten infamy into a solid career on the big screen. Then, Trevor Slattery does Trevor Slattery things for a few minutes... and scene. :)

"Nice work Trevor, you really killed that scene!"

I am in favor of the idea of "Inside the Actors Studio with Trevor Slattery" or even a very special "Charlie Rose Show" with special guest Trevor Slattery from prison.

As long as it ain't Joan Rivers. She can keep the **** away from this!

you know, after todays great AoS episode I rewatched Agent Carter a couple of minutes ago and it gets better every time I see it. Personally I love the idea, that now the short movies have after credit stingers too.

Still no new word about the one-shot on the Thor 2 BR, but I guess we will get some news about that in January.

as I posted in another thread the agents of atlas
how does pepper potts react to her new extremis powers
that might make a good one shot

I'd like to see a Monica Rambeau origin story. That'd be a fun one-shot.

Or something with Rick Jones, he can be the new non-agent version of Coulson.

A Bruce Banner one-shot could be fun as well, perhaps with just a few shots of the Hulk. Or Rick Jones AND Bruce Banner. That would be golden.

Oh, D-Man!!!!

Haha!! No. That would be cool

The next one in the Thor:TDW Blu Ray will be called "All Hail The King"

Don't know what that has to with Trevor Slattery, unless he's playing Elvis.

Granted, that could mean almost anything...but Loki did just impersonate Odin to take over the throne of Asgard.

It would be the first Marvel One-Shot to tie in directly with the feature film it's bundled with, but that title certainly screams Loki to me...

From D'Esposito's earlier comments and the title I am confident it is about Loki. I think it will explain what he did with Odin or show what he is up to after Thor leaves.

It's about Trevor. Remember in IM3 Killian said he discovered Trevor because "his Lear was the toast of Croydon"...Trevor played King Lear in a Shakespearean production in London..so I'm guessing this one shot is Trevor's origin story..lol

both are definatly possible, those were the first two thoughts I had after finding out about the title.

I'm leaning more towards Trevor/Mandarin. Kingsley already confirmed he filmed or about to film something for Marvel, there's the whole King Lear thing and then in IM3 Tony said Mandarin was an old chinese war mantle meaning advisor to the king.

MTV poses an interesting theory:

- That both Trevor and Loki are in this one shot and that Trevor is actually one of Loki's disguises.

So Loki was disguised as Trevor who was disguised as the Mandarin?

excuse me if i'm repeating myself but what about the sons of the tiger?

A Trevor Slattery one shot should be hilarious, Kingsley was fantastic in that role.

It sounds to me like all signs point to Slattery for "All Hail the King," although Marvel could still surprise us. I'm open to anything.

That said, I doubt that it will be a game-changing scene that reveals the 'true' Mandarin, like that old rumor postulated. Let's remember that so far there haven't been any one-shots that have been essential viewing for understanding the MCU. It's possible, since Marvel is always doing new things, but it's unlikely IMO.

It's the only retcon that I support, and if it's done carefully I'm sure it won't even seem that forced.

What about the China scenes that were shot for IM3? Weren't those confirmed to be the next One-Shot? Not that I'm really anxious to see them, I'd actually prefer it to be about Slattery or Loki, but are we ever going to see those scenes outside of China?

They are on the IM3 BR, IIRC
