Marvel Solicitations for November 2011

Nothing really to write home about for me. I'm not really reading too much Marvel these days but for what I read things look ok. Interested to see how Spider-Island ties up and everything. Not looking forward to shelling out 7.99 for FF # 600 and then another 2.99 on FF # 12 in the same month. I really like Hickman's story but that's gonna hurt my pocket in November.

Man, I am really not looking forward to Magneto turning villain again. Mags is one of the few comic book characters thats actually showed alot of growth and progression over the years. But again, if One More Day has taught us anything is that eventually character growth HAS to be tossed out eventually if these books are to continue infinitely, therefore Magneto must be become a cackling villain again and fight the X-men for the umpteenth time. Oh well....

I can't help but to wonder if this is a bait and switch. Magneto has a mini making it sound like he's becoming a blatant villain again, and yet he's listed as an official X-Man still in Uncanny X-Men alongside Emma and Cyclops come Regenesis.

My best guess is that he's going to be confirmed as still being in the gray area. He's still a good guy who will do bad guy things as needed. That's my guess.

What I'm wondering while reeding these is why is Sandman running around on his own? I thought Doc Ock ran the Sinister Six like a tight ship. My guess is he wouldn't be to pleased with one of the members getting caught on their free day. He ran around alone in one of the back up stories in ASM to, I think it was in one of the Avengers Academy crossover issues.

Man, I added up all the Marvels and DCs that I buy for November and it'll cost me $111 for the month. That ticks me off because I try to keep it below $100 and I had cut tons to get it down to that amount. Then I went back and realized that it's all due to five X-titles double shipping in the month... FIVE!!! I hate double shippings!

Honestly, I buy all X-Men books plus 4 other Marvels and I find it hard to drop X-titles because of my love of that line but I am really debating it.

I have to agree, this double shipping thing is bullcrap most of the time. Yeah I love some books like Avengers Academy double shipping because I love that book. But do Amazing Spider-Man, Ghost Rider, Thunderbolts, and most of the X-books need to double ship? I think not. Money is tight nowadays and double shipping is more likely to get fans to drop books and Marvel losing more money as opposed to Marvel making more money.

Seriously, I'm kinda interested in the DC relaunch and with all these double shippings I can't try much of them. I dropped books to purposely make room for the relaunch and all these double shippings are going to make me drop even more Marvel books that I wouldn't have if they or others weren't double shipped.

Besides the X-Men stuff I buy Avengers, New Avengers, Moon Knight, and Daredevil. I debating on dropping Moon Knight and Daredevil to make room and then I'm debating on dropping Astonishing X-Men, X-Men, X-Factor, and New Mutants depending on how things go after Regenesis. I wouldn't have to drop any of it if not for double shipping.

I thought you already dropped X-Factor. Don't you talk about how much you hate that series in every B/T that coincides with a new issue of it?

During the late 80's/early 90's comics always double shipped during the summer. I'm kinda glad to see it make a comeback.

In my opinion, I would go with dropping Astonishing X-Men and Moon Knight for sure.

Technically yes. I dropped it and felt good about it. Haven't bought it for two issues... and then Havoc is coming back to the book for Regenesis and I love Havoc :(

I'm holding onto Moon Knight for now because it's been fairly enjoyable and is supposed to tie-in with the Avengers books soon after Fear Itself, so I'm waiting for more news on that. Astonishing is very likely going to be dropped.

Yeah, I can't wait for Havok's return. But I doubt PAD's gonna change the way he writes the book much, so you'd probably be better off continuing to skip it.

I'll give it a few issues but we'll see. I just love the characters so much and with Rictor repowered, Havoc joining the team, and the Wolfsebane baby plot resolved... hopefully it'll get better.

As for Daredevil, it's alright so far. My problem is I came in with Bendis so the depression DD book is what I know and love. This happier uplifting approach isn't as enjoyable for me. It's good but I'm not enjoying it as much as Bendis-Diggle/Johnston. With Bendis having him join the New Avengers that'd give me a good DD fix (same as it gives me my Spider-Man fix). I figure I'll give it another issue or two and decide then.

I prefer the more grim, gritty, and depressed Daredevil as well, but even I admit that it was getting out of hand by the end. It's why I find Waid's more uplifting approach to be a refreshing take on the character. Give the grim and gritty a rest for a while.

I like that there's some basis for Waid's approach. Randomly switching gears to a happy DD would've been awkward, but a DD who's consciously happy to avoid being consumed by all the darkness in his life? Genius.
